Well been on here for about a month and finally found one that has the options I want. The only thing I'm not 100% in love with is the black color (interesting that it's not as black as I thought it would be).

2015 JGC Limited with about 25k miles on it. I can't wait to pick it up tomorrow.

I think I got a pretty good deal at $31999 plus doc and taxes. They claim that was their cost.

From the 2015 Owner's Manual (www.jeep.com/download/pdf/manuals/2015-Grand_Cherokee-OM-6th.pdf):

"Engine Oil Selection

For best performance and maximum protection under all
types of operating conditions, the manufacturer only
recommends engine oils that are API Certified and meet
the requirements of FCA US Material Standard MS-6395.

Engine Oil Viscosity — 3.6L Engine

MOPAR® SAE 5W-20 engine oil approved to FCA US
Material Standard MS-6395 such as Pennzoil®, Shell
Helix® or equivalent is recommended for all operating
temperatures."

"Engine Oil Viscosity — 5.7L Engine

MOPAR® SAE 5W-20 engine oil or equivalent such as
Pennzoil® or Shell Helix® is recommended for all operating
temperatures. This engine oil improves low temperature
starting and vehicle fuel economy.

The engine oil filler cap also shows the recommended
engine oil viscosity for your engine. For information on
engine oil filler cap location, refer to “Engine Compartment”
in “Maintaining Your Vehicle” for further information.

NOTE: Vehicles equipped with a 5.7L engine must use
SAE 5W-20 oil. Failure to do so may result in improper
operation of the Fuel Saver Technology. Refer to “Fuel
Saver Technology – If Equipped” in “Starting And Operating”
for further information."

"Synthetic Engine Oils
You may use synthetic engine oils provided the recommended
oil quality requirements are met, and the recommended
maintenance intervals for oil and filter changes
are followed."

I think for MY2016 engines, at least the 3.6L 'upgrade', synthetic is specified.

It all depends on the operating parameters and the contemplated oil change interval.

For the small marginal increased cost of readily available, non-boutique synthetic oils, I certainly would for severe service use and/or extended drains. Otherwise there is probably little benefit.

I thought the same thing, but it has REALLY grown on me, because its not a true black. I wax ever few months and it really stays a lot cleaner than I ever expected. Plus, since its not the jet black it doesnt show light mars and most light scratches nearly as much as my dark blue pickup truck.

there is one downside....when it's really clean and shiny, and especially in the sunshine, it gets a bit to sparkly, at least for my taste. Even still, I am very happy with it overall. I'd bet it'll grow on you.

Enjoy the new rig!

Thanks. Yep four days later and it was already crazy dusty, which is why I was looking at granite (although I just saw the rhino color and that would have probably hid the dust and dirt equally as well.
But oh well, so far I'm in love.
