Sometimes these service people that greet you at the desk seem to be somewhat put off when you have more info about the vehicle then they do.
Just because it can / should be done on, for example, the 5.7 it doesn't mean that every 5.7 qualifies to have it done. That's why you need to actually read the tsb. If you just walk in and say do this, this, and this, without checking the specifics, than you don't know more than the service people. It's all in the details.

The way its supposed to work is RRT's are done automatically when a vehicle comes in for service and TSB's are done only if the customer is complaining about the issue. In many cases or it seems most cases the service writers don't have a clue. The one today did give me a little hassle about doing this transmission TSB that I had in hand. He started telling how its supposed to feel different in eco mode and he wanted detail as to what issue I was really having. I tried to explain that this software update was supposed to improve the operation. He just looked at me like I was an idiot and said ok. Once the tech got it though he did the update plus two or three others.

You bring up a good point. In many cases it is the service writer who is the weak link. The techs usually, in my experience, really want to do what's right.

That's right, the tech's usually know what's going on and the service writers usually don't have a clue.

The ELSD one that he was asking about is also an RRT and they will do it automatically when you go in or they should. Read the ELSD one it will tell you that

Does every '14 with a 5.7 have an ELSD? If not, he might insist on something that doesn't apply.

I am talking about the 8 speed transmission update. I don't have ESLD and most of these don't it only comes in the offroad package.

Yes the service writers are the ones who sweat you about bringing info in. I'm aware that due to possible build dates the TSBs may not apply to all vehicles but the ones that do are the ones you get the most resistance from the service desk people.

Re: New tsb for 8speed with 5.7

I am cautiously optimistic this TSB will solve the ridiculous downshift delay in ECO mode. Definitely going to get it done at the next oil change.

Bill

Does it reduce the downshift delay in ECO mode, particularly when you are trying to pass uphill?

I've always used sport mode temporarily, but thats sort of a pain.

I know that but my post that you responded to telling me it was not an RRT was referring to the ELSD question that CHALLENGERBIZJET had asked which was an RRT for ELSD equipped GCs.

Re: New tsb for 8speed with 5.7

After a couple days of driving I can say that I really like what this update did. It really seems to have optimized the shifts.
