Re: New Wipers

I always had the best performance/longevity from the OEM wipers. Keep them clean by wiping the length of them with wet cloth or paper towel and they have outlasted after market brands for as long as I remember.

Re: New Wipers

The RainX ones were the last blades I tried on my Magnum. The coverage wasn't bad but may did they screech when wiping mist.

Re: New Wipers

Been using the Rain=X ones for a few years on all my cars. They perform very well and last a long time.

Re: New Wipers

Found out about sil blades on this forum. They have been nice so far. They have both the newer blade style and the traditional frame style available (cheap on amazon). I got the traditional type because I have better luck with them. They work great so far. Before buying new ones, clean window and wiper blades off with windex...does wonders.

Re: New Wipers

For me its not so much the cleanliness of the blade, it is the wear. The wear pattern has started to get to the point of annoying and it leaves annoying pattern streaks on the windshield.

Re: New Wipers

My last set (Bosch Evolution) were crap from day one. Even took them back and were replaced... the new ones streaked too.

Just replaced them with the Bosch Micro Edge blades... MUCH better. And cheaper.

Re: New Wipers

I've had a lot of hit and miss experience with aftermarket blades. The vehicle in question makes a huge difference, but in general the best I've found are these:

http://www.piaa.com/WiperBlades/forza.html

They are a hybrid between a beam type blade and a tension type blade. The issue with beam blades are that they will miss the bottom edge on a more curved windshield, but they work well on flatter windshields.

These seem to have the benefits of the beam blade (more consistent pressure across the blade) yet still conform well to the windshield when it curves.

Lexus use a similar style blade OEM now (not as nice, has a plastic cover instead of metal) so I've left the OEMs on my new Lexus (Had these PIAA ones on the '03 I had before) but am planning on picking up a new set of these for the Jeep.
