Point taken. Hopefully those 90% of X5 buyers are the same 90% that don't go offroad in the first place. Personally, I've seen a few X5s on gravel, but that's about all....

Go with your gut. Both are great vehicles and serve different market needs. Do you need a tall sports sedan or an SUV that can tow/go off the pavement?

One bit o' advice though, never drive a BMW without a warranty. They seem to be financial time-bombs.

Re: New Wk2 Overland v8 or 3 year old used X5 4.8i??

Thank you for everyones input. I have decided to go with an Overland V8. I finally found a v8 overland to test drive. While the GC did not hug the road quite like the X5 does, it is a great drive and I am looking forward to being able to drive anywhere and everywhere. The only thing that worries me is that I averaged 10.2 MPG on the test drive. Yes, I drove it hard, but wow is that bad.

Now the only questions are 1. go black or blackberry pearl 2. Saddle interior? 3. 18 wheels or 20 wheels.

If you don't mind washing the car twice a week, I think Blackberry/Saddle is the bomb. If you aren't off-roading - 20" wheels, otherwise 18" (but they will probably feel sloppier to you coming from the X5.)

I agree, Blackberry/Saddle looks sweet, but after already owning a black truck I will never do it again. If I were to order mine tomorrow it would be Mineral Gray/Saddle Overland, Hemi, and 20's.

wow, an x5 trade in and another thread was a q5 trade in. This new wk2 is a pretty good vehicle!

Can't wait for mine to get here! Oh - and do Mineral Gray.

Just keep in mind that Overland comes with 20 in wheels by default. To get 18 you need to order one of Off-Road packages

If you were considering an X5 then I would wait for the Street Jeep or the SRT8.
