That is normal for SRTs.

Ugh...It does seem dated. Large and Clunky. The current shifter in my 15 is fine, yes it took a day or two to master but now I don't even think about it.

Likely the gear indicator...they have these show cars "lit up" with auxiliary power so visitors can see things better.

Yeah the SRT has had that same carbon fiber trim now for a while. No change there.

As far as the new shifter, ehh whatever. It does seem to be a step backwards as it looks exactly like a shifter that would have been in every luxury car 15 years ago. But hey, everyone bitched about the '14/'15 shifter so what do people expect?
I for one like the look/feel/operation of the shifter in my '14 and glad I have it for the short two year stint it lasted.

Re: New WK2 shifter handle for 2016 (pic)...

Jeep definitely could have done better with the new shifter design. Scratching my head on this one.... why Jeep why.... Oh well, not the end of the world. I know GC's are used at the nicer car rental places so perhaps the 2014-2015 shifter was too confusing for rental newbies. I guess it just takes one bad accident that's blamed on the shifter and they change it.

Opinions vary.

Having 47,000 miles on my '14 EcoDiesel and I still fumble from time to time. We can all armchair quarterback this to death, but it's just a picture. None of us have actually seen it in the JGC, only other models or pictures. It may still be linear in actuality, but the "feel" of it being a gated shifter is the desirable want.

I totally agree. The current shifter is much nicer looking. Didn't take me long to get the feel of it either. Guess you can't teach and old dog a new trick.

Re: New WK2 shifter handle for 2016 (pic)...

Well I like it, and I'm gonna buy one. (The current shifter is the only thing I don't like about the 14-15 model. Well, OK, I would like a flip rear window. And Android Auto. And I'm happy about the new tires.)

They couldn't have used the shifter found in the new charger? I would have been happy with that. I loved it during a recent test drive

Looks bad. I love the shifter in my 14 and mastered that thing after a few tries.
