Maybe you guys don't know anything about vehicles. Pretty much all of them have leather boots around the shifter. Current and previous gen Acura MDX, Lexus IS and GS, the new Lexus RX, Ford Explorer, Ford Taurus, Ford F-150, Kia Optima, pretty much all VWs, all Audis, and that's just to name a few as quickly as possible. In fact, only the 'older' cheaper vehicles DON'T have the leather boot. So I'm not understanding where this nonsense is coming from.

The shifter itself is kind of a weird shape but it looks good to me.

There certainly shouldn't be any complaints about knowing what gear you're in anymore... that 600W orange bulb lighting up the gear should shine right through the sunroof and illuminate a P across the entire surface of the moon.

BTW that new joystick shifter reminds me of this...

With manual mode now being on the shifter itself, does that spell the end of the paddle shifters as well?

Ford? Kia? Really? LOL Not exactly inspiring company...

The car I drove as a kid had manual transmission and rubber boot around the shifter. A baggie shifter boot is just "yuck" and there is no functional need for one. Gosh, let's just go with a knob with a center Sport button and steering wheel paddle shifters, makes more sense than this shifter.

My prediction is the shifter AND the steering wheel paddle shifters will BOTH allow manual gear selection to give you a choice on how to change gears! You read it here second.

The 2016 Volvo XC90 won Motor Trend SUV of 2016. That has a leather boot on the shifter. I prefer the leather boot over a knob any day.

MY11-13 worked using the shifter. I honestly like it that way over having paddles on the wheel, personally.

Nice smart ass answer dipshit. Maybe you could point out where in the other 56 posts in this thread where that question was answered?

Sorry you don't like ford or Kia. Well actually I'm not sorry, I don't really care. What about all of the other auto makers I mentioned, you just don't care because there was 2 that you didn't like? Ight.

Ok but Mercedes flimsy little column stick isn't exactly inspiring either... I don't understand the problem with the boot. All cars have them. And it looks better than a plastic stick. Please enlighten me on what I'm missing.

If anything, I'd be bitching about the chrome plastic around the boot. Looks cheap af and is going to cause an annoying reflection of sun most likely.
