Re: New WK2 shifter handle for 2016 (pic)...

I've had no problems selecting gears with my 2014 shifter but do see how it can be a problem in a rush/panic scenario. So it's great they've Changed it to a more intuitive one but this on looks like it belongs in a 20k +/- vehicle.

I could be wrong maybe it looks much better in person.

I personally think the shifter should have been changed to look like a platinum blob.Jeep wouldn't have changed the shifter if there weren't problems with the current one. Point is if people can change the damn gear with the new one who cares wtf it looks like. It changes gears it's not supposed to be a stick of gold that some of the newer members think it should be. Could they have gone to a touch pad like Lincoln or Mercedes that would be cool but no Jeep was smart and went with the familiar. Fffft

Re: New WK2 shifter handle for 2016 (pic)...

Certainly the 2014-2015 shifter wasn't as intuitive and for some people was a bit confusing if they didn't take the time to really see how it operates. It does have tactile feedback - then returns to center. Perhaps it needed more travel with more pronounced tactile feedback for some to differentiate which gear they were selecting.

I like it as it is clean, modern and is easy to use, at least for me it is. But I can certainly understand why some people, especially older people, are having issues with it (that's why they make Jitterbug Cell Phones - The Simple Cell Phone for Seniors too). I guess a new shifter design was needed to address those people but why the baggie leather boot (I guess that is better than those old brush things) when they could have used the more modern approach of the overlapping plastic cover things. Oh well...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Audi A8 uses essentially the same shifter and has been since, I believe, 2011. Are the Germans more intuitive than we are? For the record, I think the shifter in my 2015 is great. One slap back for sport mode on/off seems so natural to me.

I believe that Jaguar also uses it.
