Re: New WK2 shifter handle for 2016 (pic)...

Any chance you folks think the new shifter will be a plug-and-play swap into the '14/'15s? Looks like the trim panel would have to be swapped out along with the shifter mechanism, but I've never looked into the internals.

Not saying I would, but it's nice to know options are out there for people who don't like the shifter. I personally haven't had any major issues with it, but I don't really think it's an improvement over a more "classic" shifter.

No, but I have heard from a few dealers that the stupid joystick has been a turn-off for quite a few prospective customers.

So HUGE impact? No, not at all. But a lost sale is a lost sale.

Is it obvious that I don't like it either?

Don't give FCA any ideas. Remember the push button shifter on the dash in late 1950 - early 1960's DeSotos? I do. Too many people who wanted to turn on the heat instead put the car in reverse!

The operation of my 2015 shifter reminds me exactly how my wife's BMW 528i operates.

Jeep has asked their owners and prospective buyers about rotary shifters.

The answer overall was a big fat NO. They want traditional gear shifters. This is why the Durango has one and the Grand Cherokee doesn't.

If they put something like the pictures one in the GC, I would be on board, but the one in the Durango/Ram looks cheap to me. Haven't had any hands on with it, but I still like the shifter in my 14 better than the alternatives.

So they don't care about the Durango buyers? Lol I could tell, the Durango doesn't feel near as premium. Sucks Jeep is missing such a large portion of the market by not offering a 3 row SUV. Something better than the turdrango. I mean Durango.
