Newbie - Can Dealer add NAV to Laredo X?

Hey everyone I just joined this forum and was hoping someone can help me...I did a search and found similar topics but nothing that specifically addressed my question..

I was at the dealer last night and came to terms on a Laredo X package lease, however they can't locate one with NAV. They are going to try and find out for me today with their parts dept if they have a process to add the NAV to it, if not they said they will order the truck from Jeep.

Does anyone have any experience with this or advice with this process? I was hoping someone did this already so when I speak to the dealer today I can recommend a course of action without having to wait for a custom order from the factory.

Thanks in advance!

I know it can be done. Mine is a base Laredo and I had the 430N radio put in. So it is possible.

Awesome...did you just tell your dealer you wanted the upgrade? Do you know what they had to do to get it done for you?

I would love to just do this instead of ordering a freakin' car from scratch and waiting but my dealer didn't know what to do and said he would try and find out today.

I am quite certain it is a simple plug and play system like the MyGig has been since 2008. I have a 2008 Laredo and swapped the base stereo for a Mygig unit on my own. Took me about 10-15 mins tops. Bought Mygig from a vendor on Ebay and save $700.

While I have not seen a pic with the 130 shown within the dash, it appears that all four headunit choices are the same size, and don't have surrounding bezels. So, it should be a simple matter of just swapping in the different one. However, some of the controls, perhaps the steering wheel, and some of the features such as voice recognition and satellite radio may not be wired for within the harness that exists. Being new, I think your dealer may need to pull the radio and see what is there behind it.

Thanks guys...yea I was thinking it should only be a matter of the dealer ordering the 430N and swapping it with the existing 430 which is same exact size and touch screen...I didn't think about the wiring compatibility though with the steering wheel controls and voice commands...

Seems so odd to me that a car with an msrp of 38K wouldn't come standard with NAV especially since when you build it online it is only a few hundred dollars to add.

I don't think you'll have a problem. The brochure is vague. So I went to Jeep.com and searched for a Laredo X package Grand Cherokee. According to the window sticker the X has voice command and hands free phone, and since all 2011 GCs have steering wheel controls, I see no problems with the wiring. The only thing that might be a concern is the antenna for the GPS.

Even on my Limited the NAV was extra.

Won't be an issue. Antenna for GPS plugs into the back of the unit and sits within the dash. Simple install.

I would've signed the lease papers on the Limited and avoid all this headache since the sticker is only a 2k more and comes with a ton more options including the sunroof...but the residual is only 48% on the Limited vs 52% on the Laredo...that combined with the extra 2k sticker makes the monthly payment skyrocket.

Re: Newbie - Can Dealer add NAV to Laredo X?

I am currently in the process of ordering a Laredo X and as one cannot order it with sunroof and the 430N I was asking the dealer if he could replace the standard 430 with the 430N.

The answer was: "To get a dealer to replace the media center with Navigation would be at least $2,500"

That's outstanding! I've been going back & forth between wanting the stock NAV unit or ordering a Pioneer AVIC-Z120 since I purchased my Laredo a few weeks ago. I've been trying to find out if this was possible & if someone else had tried it. I had just about given up & was going to order the Z120 then I read this post. Could you provide a little more info, if possible? Did you purchase the NAV from a dealer or did you get another way (ebay, perhaps?)
Would you mind telling how much it cost you? Any additional information would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for your time...
