Saw the beginning thought to myself we have had them for years here, reminded me when Dad used on of those on his old work forward control landrover mid seventies. Then saw the end Emu and Kangaroo. Believe it is an Aussie invention, done something write.

Re: Newbie Off-Road Question

I usually go with the buddies, but I have not found the weak spot( what's gonna brake first) on WK2, nor tried very hard.
On a YJ: it has on board air ( modified York), mean green alt ( with the welder, stick, mod). with that said, I usually ending up helping people. But i come equipped with snatch blocks, hilift jack, chain with hooks, various d-rings and connectors, 2x 80, 000 lbs working load straps ( i hthink 30 feet each), water, food, gps, phone, cb, flares. if it is some distance from my garage, say 300-400 miles, I come stock up with my expedition rack stuffed with jerry cans, spares etc.
Additionally I have a set of "spare parts" one of each size u-joints for my driveline, some essential automotive fluids, some fuel hose & connectors, tire patch kit, come-along, most of air tools and hand tools to do engine swap in the middle of the woods , oh yeah a firearm to kill something to eat ...
I know I am an overkill, but I am happy to report that mechanical failure never stopped me in the wilderness... 2 buddies rule-well that to avoid tow out charge and/or trasspessing fines...( truck was ok, but it was barried about 6' deep in the mud ( old K5 blazer on 44")...
so what you need? what are you doing? what's your comfort level? you can go with a bottle of water and a credit card...I would not, but i know some people that do just that...

no beer here.... I would buy for someone, but I am a weired russian.... non-drinking one, to be exact..
