Newbie Off-Road Question

This has probably been asked before so feel free to kill it and redirect me.

If you were going to have one thing in your trunk when you go off road what would it be in the event you get stuck.

How ya guys gonna use it if it's in your trunk?!

Haha I always have my hi-lift jack, tow straps, snacks, water and maybe some other goodies. Def should always go w someone in your Jeep and/or a buddy in a other 4x! Buddy system is best

Re: Newbie Off-Road Question

how stuck are we talking? Obvious choice would be something to help get un-stuck. Second choice would be the way to communicate should you need to be retrieved.

A Chinook helicopter will get you out of anything
That would be my choice if I only had one

Re: Newbie Off-Road Question

I knew I'd get some funny answers, I guess I deserved that, LOL. The beer is a given, but the winch you need some add'l equipment to mount it, no. I just have a Laredo X without any mod.

I guess I was thinking more along this line, Just something to help you get out of a situation that's not too extreme.

Re: Newbie Off-Road Question

Up here in the NW i would say it is good to have these items:

Two recovery straps
Chainsaw
Shovel
High lift jack
ax
food

That is about all I carry ATM. would love to get a winch on there, but not sure where to put it...

All you need is 2 buddies. One with a nice recovery truck and one dumb enough to go through all the sketchy parts first.

I currently keep the hi lift and some straps with me until someone comes out with a good solution for a winch.
