Jeep Grand Wagoneer could top out at $130,000 - Autoblog

LMAO...IMO, that stupidity & greediness right there, is enough to make me dump the Jeep brand like a bad habit...Wow, just wow!

Compete with Land Rover/Range Rover??!!...yeh, right!! Jeep's customer service sucks sooo BAD, that will NEVER happen!

People will buy one, take it for their first service appt at about 3mos (that's right, they have to TAKE their vehicle TO the dealer, the dealer won't come pick their vehicle up for service & drop off an equal loaner for them)...then at the end of the appt, they will hand their keys over to the dealer & tell the dealer they can KEEP the new Grand Wagoneer, cuz the service will be that bad!! :(

People who buy Rovers & other high end vehicles are accustomed to a much HIGHER level of service & catering than Jeep will ever be able to provide. Even if Jeep Corporate tells dealers to do it, the dealers will screw it up royally!!

The Jeep brand needs to learn to play the game better at a lower level first, before they aim any higher. Until they up their customer service satisfaction at the lower rung of the ladder, they have no business aiming for the higher rungs.

Just my .02, based on all my experiences at many Jeep dealers since 2011.

Others may have different opinions & they are welcome to them.

PEACE!!

It's sad but true. I have two vehicles, the JGC and a MB AMG car. Absolute night and day difference in service.

When I drop the MB off for service, even without an appointment, there is no wait. I'm immediately met by someone who hands me a bottle of water, checks the car in, and asks if I need a loaner. If I say yes, I'm taken over to the on-site loaner desk and am given a 2016 C300. My SA or another member of the staff keeps me updated throughout the day on the status. If they need to order a part I'm told to keep the loaner until they have my car finished. Car always comes back with a wash and vacuum.

When I drop the JGC off for service, with an appointment, I wait. I'm told there is no such thing as a loaner car and if I need a ride anywhere the shuttle will be about an hour. The shuttle will have 5-6 people in it and it will take another 30 min to be dropped off. Rather than wait I call an Uber. My SA doesn't bother calling me prior to the end of an office work day and forces me to call/text/email just to get any kind of update on whether the car will be finished that day or needs to stay in the shop. When I go to pick it up, my vehicle isn't sitting out ready to go. My SA does a wild goose chase in the parking lot setting off my alarm so he can find it. Then he brings up an SRT that isn't mine because he grabbed the wrong keys. When I get my JGC back it's still as dirty as it went in or dirtier as it sat outside in dust filled Arizona.

Safe to say there's a big difference in service. Do I pay for that kind of service with MB? Absolutely, it's built into parts, labor, and even shop fees. But is there any reason why Jeep can't come reasonably close. They better start if they want to play with the big boys and compete with LandRover, MB, BMW, etc.

Interesting. I do not have a fancy car but my experience with the Jeep dealership couldn't be more different. A service adviser will be with me immediately, they will engage me right away and politely ask me to wait if there are other customers waiting ahead of me (usually no more than 3-5 minute wait; and there's always 3-4 service advisers). The car is washed by default - you have to tell them not to. I get text updates throughout the day. If a rental is needed, they either drive me to the local Enterprise office or someone comes from Enterprise and picks me up and takes me to the rental place where they loan me FCA products. They will explain what was done when it comes time to pick it up and the car is usually parked by the entrance to the service department with lights flashing, though I have also been directed to the side parking lot (usually if they are very busy). Overall, sure service could be better but I definitely feel that Hawk Chrysler Jeep dealership values its customers far more than other dealerships. It is some 10 miles away from home - I bought the car there and I service it there but for small parts and cheap expendables like plastic tabs retainers I go to the one that is 5 minutes away.

There are a few dealerships by my house where I almost got into a fight with the parts department dude who was overly aggressive telling me he cannot find the damn part I ordered

Re: NEWS!!...New Jeep Grand Wagoner to top $130K!!!...LOL

I'm lucky in that my dealership is great to work with. If my JGC goes in for service and they keep it overnight, I get a loaner. It's not another JGC but it's something. They also will come and pick the vehicle up at my house and drop off when done. They wash and detail it for me whilst there also. I give a lot of credit to my service advisor in that regard because she helps to create a very positive experience. Technicians have also proven to be great as well. The sales experience is good, but could be improved upon. I keep going back to the same dealer and same salesman because the service after the sale is important to me.

That said, a friend who has owned german luxury vehicles began looking at at JGC. He's hasn't been in a non luxury dealership in years and he was damn near mortified by the experience. No bottled water, no espresso, no pastries or snacks. A water fountain with cups, a vending machine and some lousy coffee. These are small things, but they add up to the experience you get when you walk into a premium vehicle dealership. Even the decor & furniture is night and day between the types of dealerships. Also when he takes his vehicles in for service and he gets a loaner or rental, he gets a comparable vehicle.

I love my JGC and Jeep vehicles in general, but FCA has a LOT of work to do if they want to market a vehicle to go against luxury brands , let alone improve the customer experience for the vehicles they produce now. As I mentioned, I'm fortunate with my dealership experience but I read many posts from others here who have nothing remotely close to an average experience. I'm sure there are plenty of others who are silent about good experiences but the luxury brands have this whole experience dialed in to match the quality of the driving experience. FCA absolutely must fix this sort of thing before they should even consider competing in the luxury market. Consumers expect nothing less than exceptional experience.

As for the article it acknowledges that the $130k mark COULD be a possibility in the future so my interpretation is that there are a lot of IF's that need to happen first. Personally, I don't think they'll ever get to the point where they can charge that much for a vehicle and make consistent sales. People willing to spend that much on a vehicle are going to buy premium. I know I certainly would.

Are they gooey chocolate chip?
Gotta have free coffee with the cookies though.
My current Jeep dealership (Earnhardt Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram Maserati) has good cookies/pastries and coffee and comfy chairs and clean bathrooms and nice TVs.
....They offer the cheap mini mart pastries in plastic and have a vending machine where they charge you for soda.
That's really great and all, but my dealer has free cookies and water.
Perhaps you guys should consider stopping for breakfast BEFORE you take your car in?

Re: NEWS!!...New Jeep Grand Wagoner to top $130K!!!...LOL

Yeah, from the TFA: things will probably start in 50-60k range. And I imagine from the get-go there will be 30k spread from the base trim level up to their initial heigh end trim level. Maybe they'll have 3 trim levels. It's similar for the Grand Cherokees. They can start just under 30k and go up to over 60k.

And likewise, when they introduced the new Cherokee there were 3 major trim levels (Sport, Latitude, Limited - the Trailhawk is basically starting at the Latitude level) for the first 2 years. Then they added an Overland trim on top of that. I imagine if they see a market for it, they'll at a Summit trim as well - though that really doesn't make much sense to me.

So, back to the Grand Wagoneer. that doesn't sound crazy, especially if the initial release goes from say 55k-85k.

Re: NEWS!!...New Jeep Grand Wagoner to top $130K!!!...LOL

You don't even have to go up to MB, BMW, Audi, RR to get an excellent service experience. I owned an Acura TL for 10 years before trading it on my 2015 Summit, and they did a great job in the service department all around. It didn't matter what service was being performed, the Advisor would let me pick any car I wanted from a set of about 30 keys in the cabinet for a loaner.

Lexus also does it right. My wife has a 2007 RX 400h and they treat us very well every time we take it in. Their service write up offices, shop, and waiting room are all spotless and top notch. They will provide a loaner with any service that takes all day, and they wash the car (drought conditions permitting here in California).

I wouldn't expect Jeep to match some of the higher end German brands but they could at least aim for a happy medium between where they are now and where the luxury brands live.

Re: NEWS!!...New Jeep Grand Wagoner to top $130K!!!...LOL

On my VW they send me a Video !! going over what could be done and why and my options.

But I have no issue with Jeep Service (3 different ones). All fine.

Yes, I need to make an appointment. Yes there is no loaner.

Thing is, they (3 WK2's) have not needed ANY service since Dec of 2013 for Transmission Flash. I do my own oil change and tires.

My Jeep dealer service has been excellent. If I don't want to use the rental/loaner with my MaxCare contract, they have shuttle service. I'm not overly fond of their sales department, but service...top notch.

Re: NEWS!!...New Jeep Grand Wagoner to top $130K!!!...LOL

My local Acura dealer always used to have a loaner waiting and running. They don't do that anymore. Now they bring the loaner to your house and pick up your car.

NEWS!!...New Jeep Grand Wagoner to top $130K!!!...LOL

My Jeep dealership experience is unfortunately awfully the same as some of the posts above. I had my share of issues with my jeep.

All got eventually fixed, one time it took some f bombs for them to even admit an issue. The other time they did ruined my vacation as they confiscated my car (not safe to drive), refused to give loaner and offered compact for rental literally 2 days before I was about to go on 2 week vacation. Moreover the part was on backorder for a month ... not to mention the fact that they striped the oil pan bolt while doing free oil change.

Usually if the car needs to stay for another day they just don't return calls and that how I know. If I call ... they don't call back. If I call again, I'm told to call again tomorrow in the am as service rep left already. You can't make this s$&& up.

Disgusted with the service ... not sure how they can run a business like that. They do offer bagels and a descent coffee for free ... that is the only positive that I can think off...

All that being said I have 7 year max care service contract ... and no I am not a masochist. Absolutely love the truck but due to all the issues and recalls and Jeep not standing behind the product this will be the first and last Jeep for me. Maybe will buy used so I don't have to deal with dealer.

I'm praying I won't have to either. But if problems arise, I'll have to with the Maxcare. The last time I took a car into a dealer for "service" was 1993. I don't miss it. I don't give a damn what they're giving away, or how much they polish their crappers.

Re: NEWS!!...New Jeep Grand Wagoner to top $130K!!!...LOL

I have yet to find a good Jeep service center. They range from mediocre to down right annoying. The lack of communication is ridiculous. My current Jeep dealership (Earnhardt Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram Maserati) has good cookies/pastries and coffee and comfy chairs and clean bathrooms and nice TVs. But the service advisors do not call proactively. Currently, I am trying to get them to return messages on a leaking transmission on my Wrangler that they would be on the hook for since they were to have replaced the seals on last November. It seems they think that not returning my calls will make me go away.

I had found good service at the Subaru dealership. They use to be responsive and offer quick service. But, that all went downhill. Oil changes where I told them I would wait suddenly started taking 3 to 4 hours? Then, I left my Commander there to get a full detail with clay bar and everything on it. They called to let me know it was done and when I got there I find the Jeep sitting outside now covered with a layer of Arizona dust -- seriously? Then a couple of days later, I discover that they scratched my hood and touched it up with touch up paint and never told me. WTF? Of course it became a game of he said she said at this point. I haven't been back there for service since.

So crappy, dishonest service isn't limited to Jeep dealers.

It's not any better at Airpark and they churn SA's like crazy!

Re: NEWS!!...New Jeep Grand Wagoner to top $130K!!!...LOL

I feel kind of fortunate.

My dealer service department is very receptive. They can often fit people in same day for things like oil changes and they seem to do a good job of anything they've done with my vehicle.

The last time I was in there, I heard another customer complaining that there were greasy fingerprints all over her hood. The service person she was working with immediately had the vehicle sent through to be fully washed and detailed and the guy went out and spoke to the tech that worked on the vehicle about it.

I like that my dealer automatically adds any service performed to an online log for my vehicle. It takes a day or so to update, but I have a clear record of what was done.

Plus, my dealer offers one free oil and filter change every 6 months for the first 3 years. I can do it myself, but they seem to do the job competently and leave my vehicle clean, so I'll let them take care of it for now and save my effort for later on.

Re: NEWS!!...New Jeep Grand Wagoner to top $130K!!!...LOL

Yea.....if my Local Jeep dealer is any indication, they'll be better off selling the Grand Wagoneers across the street at the Lincoln dealership lol (Which is owned by the same guy I might add). The last time I went for an oil change my wife and the service advisor got into it because we were told to wait 5(!) hours for a service that was never done. It escalated to the point the used car manager and the owner offered to personally pick up my jeep and bring it in for a free car wash and service.

don't know how many salesmen have looked at me as if I had 2 heads when I said that the payment will be what the payment is.

Never mind when I get them to do the math on show me cost of car + tax + any interest. If they won't show me I don't go back.

That reminds me of when my wife (then girlfriend) went to trade in her 2001 Corolla that she bought new in early 2002 and it was past time to trade for a new car as that was 14 years ago. After driving a new Corolla she wasn't impressed...she said it was ok but didn't really like it and was ready to leave. When it was time to discuss the price she asked them to tell her how much her car was worth. Well it was so little the sales manager came out and asked her how she was going to pay for the new Corolla. She said she would write a check (she wasn't kidding she has the money) as it was going to be the second car she ever bought. She had been saving for a new one for the last 5 years (waiting for hers to break down) and had the money in the bank to buy almost anything. Then he told her that she should consider donating the car as she would get more money for it on a tax write off than he could give her. She said ok, how much are you giving me? He said, $250 towards the new one. She said ok have a nice day. He looked confused (as it was a really good deal with all of the rebates and incentives at the time) and said wait where are you going? She said I'm going home. He said aren't you going to buy the new car? She said no my car is worth more to me than that so I'm going to drive it until the wheels fall off and we left. As we were going out the door...the sales manager said is there anything else we can do? She said no Ill buy one when the wheels fall off. She is still driving that 2001 Corolla and all I do is maintenance it has over 160k the last I checked. I'm glad this happened to the sales manager and not the salesman....as he was doing a really good job and it brought the sales manager down a notch...back to reality and showed him what his salesmen go through.

Honestly I just need:
- loaner if they going to hold my car for longer than a day

- get shit done / fix issues instead of sending me on a wild goose chase

- return my calls, text me or at least offer some sort of automated service so I know what is going on with my car and when I can pick it up

100% this. I don't care if the service department has Leather sofas or an espresso bar. Get me in and get me out. Hold true to the time frame you set for a repair/service job and if I want a loaner, give me a damn loaner.

Love how everything is sensationalized! They just said they would like to eventually move the higher level GW model into the 100k range. Not right away. The first models will start in the 55-65k range

Re: NEWS!!...New Jeep Grand Wagoner to top $130K!!!...LOL

Well, honestly...the lackluster & incompetent experience at the dealership, when it comes to getting my Jeep serviced...IMO, is a huge missed opportunity for the Jeep brand as a whole.

The poor communication between the service dept & the owner, simply says to the owner "we don't care about you, you're not important to us"...so the owner says "why should I buy a Jeep again?...you obviously don't care about loyalty.".

Taking several hours for an oil change or simple maintenance, further tells the owner "we don't care if we inconvenience you, we'll actually go out of our way to do so".

If they need my vehicle for a day, week, or other extended period of time...should they actually give you a "loaner" vehicle (instead of sending you to the local rental car company), it's the cheapest smallest stripped down vehicle they can find to give you...which is stupid, as they should be seizing the opportunity & giving you a nicely equipped like-for-like vehicle (in this case that would be the latest JGC Overland 4x4 Hemi, or similar)...since spending some time with a newer version may tempt a customer to trade their old vehicle in for a new one & hence they gain repeat sales (it's like an extended test drive).

The enhanced treatment of customers tends to go a long way, with regard to keeping them as customers.

Granted, I don't need espresso or scones available while I wait, but a little respect & common courtesy would certainly help...ya know?!

These are things the Jeep brand (considering FCA bills Jeep as their top brand) should improve upon, standardize across the board, and require their dealers to provide to customers...as they are fairly easy to implement & the cost of which, they would make back in additional sales. For that matter they could have competitions for what dealers provide the best Customer Service experience & reward them for it. At least us customers would know which dealers to give our business to, based on awards.

If they really want to compete on the upper levels in the future, they are simply going to have to change some things...if they don't & make some poor decisions with regard to how they treat their customers, they could end up like Samsung with their recent Note 7 debacle (I know, I know...that may be a bit much...but you know what I'm getting at).

At a $50-60K starting price, I have much better options (other brands) to choose from than Jeep & the ownership experience will be much better with them, than what I receive from Jeep currently. Sorry, but that's just the honest truth.

I'll actually be shopping for a replacement vehicle in 3 years or so from now, so it'll be interesting to find out, if they treat me well enough to be be a repeat customer or disregard me enough to chase me to another brand.

Just my .02 based on my personal experiences.

Please don't hate me...I love my Jeep, but I despise the ownership experience.

Have a good night & good week you all!

PEACE!!
