Re: Next generation JGC MY2017?

As I was wondering about purchasing the extended/lifetime service contract I was thinking about the MY2017. Maybe I should consider trading in after 4 years, get a 2nd year Fresh Jeep, and ride out the next 5 years in style.

Then again, who knows what 2017 will bring, we may be headed into CUV territory (more than we have already).

It does make me wonder too where the 2017 is headed. I'm really not that worried about the GC as it and the Wrangler are the flagship vehicles. They aren't going to f'em up. I'm excited to see what is up next... Can't wait

If jeep keeps the off road capability and on road manners of the current grand with ORAII and adds 50 hp & tq to the hemi model I will trade in my 14 in a heartbeat.

Would be nice if the 2017 had something like this:

Land Rover unveils disappearing hood - CNN.com Video

Now if Jeep got that right, pretty amazing. No more touch parking!

Re: Next generation JGC MY2017?

I see the Cherokee has a the Lane Sense lane departure warning system. Perhaps n the GC soon too?

I was looking at the info on the Cherokee and I gotta tell you, had I wanted a slightly smaller SUV I would be all over it. Jeep did a great job even though my first thought of the front was not positive, I like it now.

I'm hoping the lane sense / departure feature will be available before 2017.

I would be surprised if this feature was added before the new model...

I understand why you say this, but most of the JGC's competitors already have the this right now. So while you could be right, it just depends on how competitive Jeep wants to be feature for feature. 2017 will have a whole new level of features that make lane departure seem simple. This biggest problem with Lane assist now might be that the HEMI option does not use electronic steering like the v6 version and also the JC.

I'm sure they could add it if they wanted to. They better hurry up if they are going to though. we have the 15 model year coming up and a half model year for the 16's. You could be right with the competitive edge, they may decide to throw in some extra goodies before the next generation just to keep sales strong.
