Nice fill up after record MPG trip

Highway trip from Boston to central Jersey.

6000 miles on the odometer now.. Still getting better. Pentastar obviously!

65-75 mph, no ECO mode, 20 minutes of traffic or so.

Love the range in this thing! Can do a real big road trip without worrying about finding a gas station.

Thats great! I just completed a 600 mile trip and averaged around 22 mpg. I only had 1000 miles on the odometer when I started. Hopefully once I get more miles on the engine the mpg will improve.

Re: Nice fill up after record MPG trip

I took a 2400 mile trip that averaged 22.8 MPG but I was driving lots of highway at 82 mph most of the way with some hills. It didn't allow 8th gear much of the way due to the hills or wind. Had 4000 miles on the Jeep at the start of that trip.

Re: Nice fill up after record MPG trip

I'm not sure how the heck you guys get those type of numbers. The best was 22-23MPG while driving like grandma. I only have 2K on ODO so hopefully this should improve a bit.

Pics are small, but was in 8th on that first picture.

It was in 8th except for any semi significant uphill. Then 7th for a few seconds and back to 8th.

Thats why I drive with ECO mode off. Really slows you down uphill, then you step on it and it drops you to 6th instead of just 7th.

Depends where you live too. I wouldn't expect anyone at high elevation to touch 25mpg

Re: Nice fill up after record MPG trip

I have a 2012 GC and the last tank driving back and forth to work was 26.4 mpg. It's a 34 mile trip each way with a mix of 2-way suburban highway and suburban interstate freeway traffic. Speeds varied from 55 - 70 mph without too much stop and go. Absolutely amazing to me. I currently have just over 18,000 miles on the odometer.

611 Mile range!? I'm no where near that when I fill up.

Re: Nice fill up after record MPG trip

Impressive! I havent really tried to max it out yet...but 22-23 was around what I got on the way back from the dealership for a 650 mile trip.

Sure beats the 13.5 I get now driving to and from work...a quick 5 mile round trip.

Has anyone tested if Eco mode really does much to get better gas mileage?

Eco mode frustrates me too much to stick it out for 500+ miles.

Highway...I have my doubts if it helps that much. As I mentioned before, if you hit a decent uphill in Eco mode, you really slow down in 8th and you drop 10MPH and have to step on it hard. It'll drop you down to 6th instead of 7th most of the time. With ECO mode off, I've never seen 6th gear on the highway.

Off-Highway, ECO mode will most definitely help. Running through 1st-8th on the highway only happens after tolls and exits....off-highway...its every stoplight and stop sign. Eco mode does a great job of keeping the RPM's low during those multiple starts.

Re: Nice fill up after record MPG trip

With only 2300 miles on my 2014 GC Limited 4x4 V6, I'm averaging 21 mpg in rush hour traffic every day (50% highway / 50% back roads, all in "ECO" mode), and get about 440 miles out of a tank before my gas light comes on. Filling it up requires about 22 gallons.

That amount of miles from a tank is double what I used to get from my 2008 Exo X GSR or 2012 STI Limited!
