Nitto Terra Grapplers G2 for Summit?

Anyone here have experience with the new Terra Grapplers G2 tires on their
Summit? How is the ride on freeway, on dirt roads, mild off road and in rain,
dry, ice and snow? Need to get new tires for my Summit, and thinking about these. Will be using stock size 265/50/20. How do these compare to the Terra Grapplers, including noise wise?
Thanks for any input!

Re: Nitto Terra Grapplers G2 for Summit?

i got a set of the G2s in 285/50/20 and love them. No rubbing, quiet, smooth, great in heavy rain. I live in Oregon, so havent had a chance to try them in snow or ice, but they are snow rated (the first gen. terra grapplers are not). Highway noise seems about the same as the stock forteras. I have a 14 overland, so the sound should be no issue to you in a Summit since you have better cabin noise insulation. I got mine at discount tire for $914 with TPMS rebuild and install. Tires were $210 ea. They look great too!

I have no experience with these but you can check earlier discussions:

I had the Terra Grappler G2's installed about 3 months ago & I love these tires! I have used them in all conditions except off road (mud). They are amazing! They are excellent in the snow & ice, grip well in the wet/slush, and are quiet on the highway. They are a big improvement over the original Grapplers & those tires always got excellent reviews! They now carry a 60k warranty which is awesome! They are not a dedicated snow tire like the Nokian or Blizzak but for an AT tire, I am very impressed! There are not a lot of stock size 265 50/20 tires to choose from, but these should be a front runner!

good to hear. So how would you describe highway noise and ride quality compared to the stock forteras?

The ride is a little softer & less harsh than the Forteras. The Forteras, IMHO, are really just a summer/highway tire. I don't know why they would even put this type of tire on an off-road capable vehicle? I suppose just to get better mileage? I don't find the G2s noisy . . . it's not like these are mud terrain tires. They are AT tires with an aggressive tread pattern. The new computer design for the G2s is reportedly giving them longer tread life, better snow traction & a quieter ride than previous Terra Grapplers. I have no experience with the original Grapplers, however I like the look of the G2s and so far, I am very happy with them!

Re: Nitto Terra Grapplers G2 for Summit?

You guys running the G2s in stock size (265/50/20) I know it's technically the same size as the Forteras, but is the G2 a little taller and wider. It seems like they are making the G2s larger.

I would be interested to know if the G2s are a bit taller and wider than the Forteras? With the OEM 20" wheel and the G2, would this fit in the spare tire
space?
Thanks

Good question? I never thought to try it, although I have no desire to purchase another G2 tire to replace what is already there!

Are these on the stock wheels or aftermarket? I have the Overland with the 20's Im leaning on 275/55-20 as I see they fit well, but Id rather the 285/50 if they will fit the stock wheel.

What makes you think they would be larger if they are made to a given size?? Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of offering different sizes?
