No more MaxCare?

Hey guys, just picked up my 2014 Grand Cherokee Limited. The dealer asked if I wanted to purchase a warranty, but they didn't offer a lifetime warranty.

When I inquired about the lifetime MaxCare, they said it's not sold anymore. However, ziegler still sells them?

They said that MaxCare isn't backed by Chrysler anymore. Were they just trying to get me to buy their warranty instead? I wanted the lifetime for $2350 from ziegler. Theirs was 7 years, 80,000 miles for $2000.

Re: No more MaxCare?

Your dealer was "smoking" something...the only vehicle that the Lifetime Maxcare offer isn't available on is the EcoDiesel version of the JGC. Other time/milage intervals are available for that under MaxCare.

Please also be aware it's not an extended warranty. It's an extended service contract. (big difference legally)

Lol thats what I was planning on doing anyway. I just wanted to give them a chance to match the price and throw it onto my financing.

If I buy it from ziegler and bring it to this dealership, they can't deny the maxcare coverage right?

I do have another dealership in the area, but this is literally right down the street from my job so it would be convenient whenever I drop it off for service.

You are good if you buy from Ziegler. When you take it in the service guy will see that you have maxcare when he punches in your VIN, doesn't matter where you bought it from.

No they cant as long as you get the maxcare factory stay away from that third party garbage. the maxcare is entered with your vin number so when they pull up your vin there it is at any dealership you don't need to carry paper work with you. the car rental benefit when you have it in for service is really nice I have made a lot of use of that over the last year.

Re: No more MaxCare?

I have MaxCare from Ziegler and had to take my ride in to get the alignment tweaked and the dealer was first rate and treated me well. So I say go for it and dealers get reimbursed by Jeep so they should always work on your right.
I was impressed to be honest...

As a reminder, it's not called Maxcare, it's actually called "LIFETIME MAXIMUM CARE". Perhaps they were thinking of a different plan, perhaps the guy you talked to is new, or perhaps they were just screwing with you.

Just for fun, I would bring in either a printout or a tablet into the dealer showing them Chrysler's web site below. If Chrysler was no longer selling or supporting the service plans, they definitely would NOT allow you to buy them directly from their web site....

Re: No more MaxCare?

A question about the extended service plan(s):

When do they have to be obtained? Do I have to buy them when I purchase the vehicle or can they be bought as long as the car is under factory warranty?

Thanks!

Mopar Vehicle Protection (MVP) is Chrysler's name for the extended service plans....

Lifted from Frequently Asked Questions

Q: When can I purchase Mopar Vehicle Protection?
A: New Vehicle plans can be purchased anytime within 4 years and 48,000 miles of the vehicle's warranty start date (the date the vehicle was delivered to its original owner). Surcharges may apply after 1 year or 12,000 miles.
Certified Pre-Owned plans can be purchased on Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep® vehicles with an active, Certified Pre-Owned Limited Warranty and an odometer that reads less than 75,000 miles. Lifetime plans for Certified Pre-Owned Vehicles must be purchased within 4 years and 48,000 miles of the vehicle's warranty start date (the date the vehicle was delivered to its original owner).
Traditional Pre-Owned Vehicle plans can be purchased on vehicles that are no more than 10 model years old and with an odometer that reads less than 125,000 miles. Your dealer will complete a Vehicle Inspection to ensure the vehicle is eligible for coverage.
Most – but not all – Convenience and Maintenance (non-mechanical) plans can be purchased on vehicles that are no more than 10 model years old and with an odometer that reads less than 125,000 miles. Some Convenience and Maintenance (non-mechanical) plans have specific enrollment rules. Please visit your local dealer for details.
