No Notification Sounds When iPhone 5 is Paired

Did some searches but can't seem to find an answer to my issue. IPhone 5 paired with no problems but I noticed sounds are gone. No keyboard clicks, and no text or email notification sounds from either phone or JGC speakers. Anybody else have this issue?

Re: No Notification Sounds When iPhone 5 is Paired

This is an iPhone issue - when connected to Bluetooth the ringer plays through the speakers and I can use the phone itself as normal but notifications from other apps (texts, calendar, email, etc) are all silent. There are a bunch of threads on the apple support forum from people with multiple makes and models that have this same issue.

I think the problem is if you set your Bluetooth connection to stream both phone calls and audio, any and all sounds from the phone will be routed through the radio and the notification sounds for some reason don't get streamed.

Check out this thread for starters:

Re: No Notification Sounds When iPhone 5 is Paired

Just set your radio on media -> bluetooth

Or shut sending media off and just leave phone.

I don't know how to set it on iphone.

There should be an option to blend bluetooth
Media with any source on the jeep and I started a thread on it.

It's a problem with most phones and cars.

Some devices send audio over the phone connection
And the car will auto switch phone notifications but not media.

My wife complains she can't hear gps on here android with her VW
Same issue different car different phone.

Things need to be tagged as notifications vs stream so the car knows
To switch to it.

It's a bluetooth issue.

Re: No Notification Sounds When iPhone 5 is Paired

This happens on both my Jeep and my Lexus.

If you are listening to streaming BT audio, the notification sounds play through the speakers along with the audio track. If you are listening to another source you don't hear anything.

Re: No Notification Sounds When iPhone 5 is Paired

If you are streaming bluetooth audio the notifications will lower the music volume and I haven't noticed it playing through the speakers. I do know however that if I get a text message it screams at me saying, "New text message from XXXXXXXX" If anyone knows how to get that volume lower then please let me know (sorry for asking another question in this post). I have an iPhone 5 with Sprint and it is usually good with notifications except when using google maps it does not say the turn by turn instructions through the car, it only does that with apple maps (which is complete CRAP by the way).

Re: No Notification Sounds When iPhone 5 is Paired

I can confirm about turn by turn while on another source won't be announced via bluetooth. I want to try this while on iPod mode and listen if it will announce thru USB. I think the USB/iPod mode sux because every time that i connect the iPhone it will auto-play songs on my library and I listen to Pandora or internet radio 99%. I have a 12v USB charger inside the center console to charge my iPhone for this reason!

When i'm listening to music via bluetooth i can hear the keyboard sound in the background.

IMO, the best sound quality is the AUX input. And this way you will get all notifications and sounds. But after I upgraded from RA2 to the RA4, I have been connecting via BT and using the NAV on the radio.
