No way to switch ESC/TCS fully off?

Just went through my WK2 owner’s manual. It seems you can only partially turn off the ESC.
In my old '06 WK, it was possible to either turn it off only partially or also to turn it off completely. This made a HUGE difference in sand driving. The vehicle is twice as capable in sand with ESC FULLY off. I know this from experience. With the WK you could turn it off partially by just momentarily pressing the ESC switch, and fully off by pressing it for a few seconds. It seems this is not possible with the new WK2?
Can anyone confirm this?

Re: No way to switch ESC/TCS fully off?

i noticed the same. even with it "off" it still cuts throttle on wheel spin. very annoying. i hate when computers drive my car.

is there no way to make it shut up entirely?

worst case, i am hoping that when diablosport comes out with a programmer i'll be able to fully disable it.

Re: No way to switch ESC/TCS fully off?

In my '06 KJ, you could only turn it off partially by pressing the button or putting it in 4Hi. However, when you put it in 4Lo, it went off entirely. I'm not sure if that's true for the WK2. I'm wondering if it goes off entirely if I put my WK2 in 4Lo...

It is still very capable in the sand, but you need to work it a lot harder. The only way is to keep your momentum up and that means to sometimes "hammer" it a bit hard. With the previous generation whenever I felt that it was about to bog down, I just gave it lots of gas and no problems - ever!
If this is really the case and it is not possible to completely switch it off, then I would go as far as saying that the latest Grand is severely handicapped compared to the previous model.

SEVERELY handicapped. sometimes wheel spin is essential.

Like I said, in the WK you could turn it off completely by keeping the switch pressed. It did not mention this anywhere in the manual though. Don't know about the KJ

With the WK2 in 4LO it is also only partially off.

I know this sounds harsh, but I don't think I would have bought it had I known this.
I am still keeping my hopes up that there is some trick to switching it completely off.

I will never make it up Big Red again! No problem with ESC off in my WK, but only made it up half-way with it on.

Re: No way to switch ESC/TCS fully off?

from what I know you COULDNT turn it completely off in the WK either......

maybe some of the track/quarter mile racers will chime in.....but they had the same problem of it still limiting them when they thought it was completely off
