Re: Noticed hardly any 4x4s on dealer lots, how many of you are getting the 4x4?

In my neck of the woods, one needs a 4x4...

Yerp. They even make 4x2 Wranglers and some folks buy them. One rental car company in the Denver area has a couple 4x2 GCs for rent--which means I'd hate to be a skier heading out with just a 4x2 during a big storm.

Guess it depends on where you live and how much ice, snow, mush, mud, rocks, etc. you expect to have to deal with regularly.

Shoot. I don't understand why 4x2 is even legal. Even on my new E-Class, I got the 4Matic version. You never know when you need it.

I bet the rental car fleets think otherwise.

Ugh...right! The rental fleets buy 20 v6 models and 1 Hemi Charger. The Hemi stays booked all the time. Its the bait and switch approach.

Like most, I still would prefer the Hemi. but many Americans are cash strapped and the v6 is a descent performer. Perhaps that explains 4x2 Jeeps in many instances.

Some of the biggest advantages of the full time 4x4 are available on dry pavement, and definitely on wet pavement.

I think the 4x2's come with a special "Ditch Rated" badge.
