Re: OBDII port plus plugin module

Yeah, was $25 two and a half years ago and now about $15, I just leave a dongle plugged in each car & it sleeps when not in use, does not run the battery down even over a few weeks of non-use. Mini is essential for the XF, not so for the WK2.

Lessee $15 dongle and app, $40,000 car. Almost 4 hundreths of a percent.

Thanks for confirming the cheapest of the cheap dongles work StarionVR4. I'm going to splash out my hard won seven bucks now.

Cheers,
Steve
Here's the actual pix of the label. I don't want to open the module because I will be returning it. I am guessing this particular unit was used for tracking the vehicle while on test drives. Also, most likely for inventory control while on the dealer's lot. Plus, they probably tracked me while I was "cleaning out the spark plugs" while on the highway.

Re: OBDII port plus plugin module

I bought a different model but a BT OBDII for use with iOS over a year ago. It has to be input as a Dodge or FIAT 3.6 engine but is a useful little tool but for engine only at this time.

I also use a dash camera that now offers higher end black boxes with a OBDII piece to record virtually everything. It's a nightmare to my daughter who might be driving at the end of next year. As for auto insurance companies like progressive, I simply wouldn't have it in my car. I already assume Big Bother watches us enough. Seriously on the dash camera I have to always check to see if it's muted. Nothing worse that photo evidence for court with loud music playing and a multitude of F- bombs being dropped as you get smashed into by clueless driver. Be sure what it is.

Re: OBDII port plus plugin module

I bought one a year back, but Jeep doesn't let their code be read. I can check my engine using Dodge or Chrysler/Fiat 3.8L, but it will not read any of the other diagnostic notices.

Jeep needs to change things to be a bit more transparent. They will start losing market share, because of so many problems along with bad dealerships plaguing the system, at least here.
