Re: OBX beach driving advice

Thanks, Buckeye. I really didn't want another "blue" vehicle (my Highlander Hybrid Limited was blue), but this was the only light color available on the Summit at the time I bought. It's really grown on me...looks very different as the light changes and doesn't really show the dirt much at all. It varies from a grey to a silver to a blue, etc. and even can have a slight lavender hue at sunset or early in the morning.

1st time and we're hooked. I hear ya, stayed at the Ramada Plaza for 3 nights for $944 out the door and could have rented a house for a week for $1450. Going to Hatteras tomorrow and got a ORV permit, but it looks like rain this weekend.

Yea, the house rental makes a lot of sense...that's what we did last year at Kure Beach NC. (via Homeaway.com)

The Jeep can handle rain! If the rain gets you wet, go for a swim.

Whatever ... enjoy yourself!

Re: OBX beach driving advice

I have 2 kids and a wife that have higher powers than me in some instances. I sometimes have to go with the majority vote, but hopefully they'll still be down for some wet sand.

Check out the Corova area of the Outer Banks. It's all off road only access with giant rental houses right on the beach. It's a Grand Cherokee owners dream come true.

Thanks for the info. That's where the pics were taken and why we got hooked. Yes, those houses there are the ones we're interested in!

Re: OBX beach driving advice

I love the duck area on up to corova. I am however partial to hatteras island though for some reason.

Definitely better restaurants in duck and corolla which makes it tough but there's just something about hatteras village that keeps bringing me back.
