OEM Nerf bar installation.

I'm thinking of buying these tubular nerf bars and installing them myself.
My question is are these easy to do myself? I'm no mechanic by any means.

Re: OEM Nerf bar installation.

Took me only 30 minutes. Install 3 brackets in the pre drilled holes with bolts/nuts and use 3 bolts to install the bars to the brackets per side.

Thank you for the info.
So no need to do anything to the lower rocker cover. I didn't want to get into removing trim pieces etc.

Re: OEM Nerf bar installation.

Here's some shots of an installed bracket. The silver bolt goes into the nerf bar.

Here's a shot of the 2 nuts and bolts that are installed through the pre-drilled holes to the body.

You'll do fine, super simple.

Re: OEM Nerf bar installation.

You DO NOT need to remove the rocker at all. As soon as you get under the Jeep, you'll see it's not necessary.

Re: OEM Nerf bar installation.

I forgot and saw it in the pic. There is another bolt/nut that is in the middle of the bracket and you just need to push out the rubber plugs to install them. I saved the plugs, incase I ever removed them.

Re: OEM Nerf bar installation.

That will be the bolts with the plate at the end. To start the nut on it can be tricky as the bolt just dangles. I installed the bolt and as it dangled, slid on the bracket, put in the 2 side bolts loosely. I then took a screwdriver to pry down on the top of the bolt while I threaded on the nut.

Thanks for the pics. I see the mounting area. There is some rubber place holder there now I see. How do you get to the back side of the hole in the lower rocker?

Re: OEM Nerf bar installation.

Just bend it down some until you get it in, it flexes fine.

Re: OEM Nerf bar installation.

The Nerf bars came in today and I installed them with no issue whatsoever. Took me about 2hrs with a few distractions.
Great tutorial, thank you
