OEM roof rack crossbars or third-party?

Looking at my options for roof cross bars. I may need to carry cargo box I bought long time ago at Sears. I used it on my old ZJ with factory crossbars and mounts for cargo box would work better on flat crossbars similar the OEM. The mount is essentially flat metal plate under the box that is secured to the same plate inside the box with 2 screws from inside - one screw in front of the cross bar, another - behind.

I looked at Thule and Yakima and they don't seem to offer flat cross bars, only round.

So in my situation I think it is better to order OEM cross bars, correct?

Re: OEM roof rack crossbars or third-party?

See below thread. OEM should work for you but I still have concerns that some schmoe could simply remove the OEM cross rails with the proper security torx wrench unless you lock equipment mounts above the towers.

Thule/Yak haven't officially release fittings for the WK2, but Rack Attack can typically come up with a solid aftermarket solution.

Are you saying that solutions from Thule/Yakima cannot be removed as easy?

Correct, nearly all of the Thule/Yak tower mounts lock to the vehicle using the same key and lock cores that you can insert/match into the equipment carriers. The "towers" are the mounts that attach the cross bars to the tracks on the vehicle.

The Mopar stickered OEM model towers do not lock to the tracks on the top of the WK2, it's just those two security torx bolts on each tower.
