Re: Off Road I or II-to ELSD or not to ELSD

I still think the 730 is a pile and not user friendly at all. Heck it doesn't even know when you change time zones .... it doesn't change the state when looking for POIs. It's database of maps is terrible, often it had no idea where it's going but it will take you "somewhere".

I just returned from a 3600 mile road trip and I was VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED with the NAV. As for the rest of it, the sound is okay but nothing to write home about.

I'd say on a scale of one to ten I'd give it a two.

This has gotten off topic but I like my 730n. And I'm coming from a 2011 m3. I do miss the large wide screen display but entering info is just as easy if not easier and browsing the iPod or playing Bluetooth audio is great too. Once again the only downsize is a sub par touch screen size and resolution. The navigation works well, no problems yet either. On a scale of 1 to 10 I give it a 8.

Your never going to find a car with everyone liking the sound system either. People complained about the upgraded sound in the bmws as well and it was a 1500 dollar option! I was happy with it, and the jeeps sound is pretty good for a stock system as well I think.

And don't get me wrong, I'm not saying this is the holy grail of radios/nav but I think it does what I expect it to so far.
I can say that with either my ipod touch 3g or classic the 730N will not automatically recognize the device. This requires a disconnect and reconnect to the USB port. Also there should be a setting for a preferred device (i.e. ipod) vs. manually selecting it through the device properties.

The user interface in the 730N is dated.

Allow me to enter values into the Nav system while moving. Provide the standard legal/accept screen.

In general this system is subpar vs. systems being offered by competitors.

On the plus side the Uconnect/Bluetooth has been working great with my BB.

Regards,
NHman

Re: Off Road I or II-to ELSD or not to ELSD

I don't mind the subject change as I am currently leaning to a Limited with Luxury II and Off-Road I even though it doesn't have the ELSD I want. I just don't trust the air suspension.

So the main thing left to decide is the radio. I appreciate everyone's input! The most important thing to me is iPhone music and podcast playback and charging. How do the they compare with an iPhone 4 plugged in?

Re: Off Road I or II-to ELSD or not to ELSD

Yeti, note that early build Overlands came with QD2/rear ELSD and no Quadralift. Might be worth a search for a low mileage 2011 with this config, just depends on your priorities.
