I'm new to the Jeep family. Just recently bought a used 2013 4WD V6 overland, to have a nice ride to work, but also wanting to get into a bit of off-roading. I am aware that I need to make some changes to the vehicle to make it more offroad friendly.

A few questions:

1. Is there any point in trying to go off-road with stock equipment? (20'' wheels w/standard Goodyear tires, no skid plates, but otherwise an offroad capable drivetrain 4WD, QL etc...)

2. Wheels and tires. Any recommendations for compatible 18'' wheels? For tires, I kind of like the BFGoodrich all terrain ones. I like the OEM Mopar wheels, but they're like 400$ each...

3. Skid plates. I understand that there are 3 different sets/types? All of them a must?

4. Warranty. I bought the Mopar extended service thing. Does this mean that I must use OEM wheels? Does this mean that I must get (2) and (3) installed at a dealership?

Thanks for helping out a keen but somewhat clueless newbie :).

Perfectly fine for light off-roading.

Lots of threads that address this in the dedicated forum area up above

Yes, preferable

No and no.
