Off Road Package Requirements

Why can you not get the Off road package 2 along with the 20 inch wheels on the Overland?

I have been trying to build mine and each time i add the off road package it removes the 20's and adds 18's.

Is there something technical where you cant have this combo? Thx.

Re: Off Road Package Requirements

When you use your vehicle off road you want as much sidewall as you can get. My Laredo X is rare because it should have 18's but it has an "18 inch wheel delete" giving it 17's with the "Off Road Adventure II package". Jeep won't "Trail Rate" a Grand Cherokee with 20's so they delete them and give you 18's giving you two extra inches of sidewall.

Re: Off Road Package Requirements

16"s would give you 2" of extra sidewall. 18"s give you 1" of extra sidewall.

Re: Off Road Package Requirements

If you really want the 20" wheels, you can always add skid plates later.

Re: Off Road Package Requirements

A Hemi equipped WK2 can't run 17" wheels due to the size of the heavy-duty brakes. So how are you running 17"s robtminor?

With regards to why the 20" wheels aren't available with the off road packages is that 20" wheels are not recommended for off roading. Not enough side wall clearance. You'd end up blowing out a tire and/or damaging the wheels.

Seems you have a rare Jeep my friend! A hemi equipped WK2 with standard (aka non heavy duty) brakes. Cool! lol

Re: Off Road Package Requirements

Just curious... will a 17" wheel fit my 2012 WK2 Limited, 3.6L Pentastar engine? I can get a set of 17" wheels off a Wrangler Rubicon for cheap.

Re: Off Road Package Requirements

You just have to ask the dealer. I have a trail rated Overland with the 20's, but the dealer switched them out, i think, to make it more appealing to the customers. It was on my list of add ons, but I just said I wasn't going to pay for them unless they threw the original set in too. Obviously they said, "No".

I love them, but I also use my Jeep off road, so i have taken a pretty good size chunk out of one. The 18's would be nice, but they don't look as good at all. They do fine if you put some nice off road tires on them though.

Not to hijack anybody's thread, but what size/brand tires are those? If you don't mind me askin. I've been looking for a meatier tire for my 20 overland rims, and haven't had much luck.

These pictures are all with the Forteras. , but I just ordered a set of Cooper Zeon LTZ 275/55R-20 after a recommendation from someone on here.
