Yep, had to hope for the best, negotiated 1% below invoice on my 2012 SRT8, the dealer was begging me to walk away from the deal once orders started to arrive since they asked MSRP or higher on the other ones they received. Welcome to ordering at product launch or mid model refresh. Not sure why you think it is a big deal since you can always walk away from the deal if the pricing is not to your liking if you structure your agreement with the dealer appropriately.

You can walk if the deposit is refundable, but you aren't going to make any friends at the dealership which could come back to haunt you in future negotiations.

Dealers will take anyones money regardless and don't really care. If you ordered something unique and not easily sellable, they will make sure the deposit is non refundable.

I'm sure if you make it a monthly habit they will start getting annoyed.

I originally ordered an Overland when the banks opened. The dealer (Pat from Fields) said I could back out if the pricing was something I couldn't do and I didn't have to put a deposit down. I have backed out of that deal and he said he won't have a problem selling it when it arrives. The Limited I plan on ordering on Tuesday I have to put down a deposit with a local dealer.
