Re: Oil Life

Yup, it's the difference between "indirectly related" and "unrelated".

Re: Oil Life

I find it funny how right when I hit 4,000 miles, the indicator went to 0% and my car told me to get an oil change. I think ill wait about 1,000 miles before I change the oil.

Re: Oil Life

When mine hits 0% which is supposed to be in 2600 miles from now (that would total around 5K miles or so) I will get an oil analysis sample and off to Blackstone to see what it says. I will post those results for those interested once back from Blackstone...

I would love to see the results. Mine hit 0% right when I hit 4K. I know that not all oil samples are the same but it will generally be similar because of the mileage.

The last time I had my oil changed, 8330 miles with 5120 miles on the oil, I sent in a sample to Blackstone. They said that they were seeing a bit higher than average wear content, but that it was likely due to engine break-in. They also indicated that I should be fine going 7500 miles between changes. I plan on getting my next oil change at 15,000 and I'll take another sample at that time as well. I'm using Penzoil Ultra Full Synthetic.

I use the same oil so I'm glad that my 7500 mile interval is good!

Re: Oil Life

It will be good to get a few of us doing oil analysis to be sure we are not causing undo wear to our engines or changing too early for that matter...
