LOL. That went through my mind at first. With the few expletives I uttered, probably won't happen though! While I was not panicked, I had an extreme sense of urgency that seemed to lack with those on the other end. (the guys were laying on top of each other in the front of the cab, broken windshield, some blood, etc...) I had literally just witnessed the dump truck overturn directly in my lane in front of me after not making a corner (since it was going way too fast). If I had literally been 2 second faster, that thing would have taken me out. (on this 2 lane road, there was no shoulder and one side was a hill)

I think, in my case, after having OnStar for so long, it's become clear for the past month that I didn't really use it except for hands-free calling which U-Connect takes care of very well.

We had a tour bus go over the railing of an overhead pass here in the DC area several months ago; I think it made national news. A soccer mom friend of mine was on the lane below and saw it drop through the sky in real time. She was also a cool customer and stopped to render assistance. The bus was full of kids from out of state here on a field trip. I'm pretty sure that the driver was the only fatality, which is a miracle.

Good on you for taking action, the1jake. +rep

Re: OnStar to Be Available for GC Shortly

I'm a 911 operator and don't like dealing with OnStar, it's usually better to talk to someone involved directly. That said we are not giving you the runaround or jerking you around with all of the questions we ask. We ask the questions so we can get the right resources to you in the right manner and to get an accurate picture of what is going on. We do this so crews resopnding can have the information they need and to make sure everyone responding is safe. Telling us to just get them there is of no help. It only prolongs the call and makes everyone frustrated.
