Yep, the tilt down mirrors are excellent for getting within one foot of curbs , as they can ticket for over one foot in many or all parts of California.

Re: Opinions needed, Is the advanced technology worth the cost?

Just returned from a trip to SoCal and all of the safety features were worth every dime! Recenty purchased an M-B Sprinter based RV and in addition to the backup camera, this puppy has side cameras that come on when you use the turn signal lever. A really great feature that I suspect will be on SUV's in the very near future

Re: Opinions needed, Is the advanced technology worth the cost?

How much trouble is it to temporarily remove the FCW/ACC sensor unit? The reason I'm asking is that for off-roading, the manual recommends removing the lower bumper cover. If I wind up getting the advanced tech group, I'll want to remove that unit every time I go wheelin' as well. I shudder to think how much it costs to replace that bad boy!

Absolutely worth it!

I didn't even want it on my '14 Overland but the one I ended up with happened to have it. I wouldn't have it any other way now. It's great!

Didn't want it and saved a bunch. Bought a couple of guns with the savings.

Re: Opinions needed, Is the advanced technology worth the cost?

I'm purchasing a JGC overland tomorrow and considered the ATG option but considering I adjust my mirrors so I don't have a blind spot and only use cruise control on the highway when there is no traffic to worry about, I can't justify the cost.

I've been adjusting my mirrors like this for 20+ years (since originally got something in the mail from Geico showing how to do this):

How To: Adjust Your Mirrors to Avoid Blind Spots - Feature - Car and Driver

Give it a try. It may take a little while to get used to it, but it works.

Re: Opinions needed, Is the advanced technology worth the cost?

I love ventilated seats. Huge improvement in comfort in warmer temps and they are not optional in any car I buy since I first had them. Didn't like the parking sensors and such till I had em, now I love them and don't want to be without. Didn't like adaptive cruise until I had it, now I love it and don't want to be without. I think being objective I have to figure I need to do a better job of giving stuff the benefit of the doubt till I've tried it.

Oddly I've had collosion avoidance is several vehicles before this one and never had it save my bacon. Being the guy in the paragraph above I always felt like it was wasted on a careful driver like me. That would of course be until I started to nod on the (long) trip home getting this car. Woke up to chimes and flashing and was no bs flat saved from rear ending the car in front of me by this system. Instead of paying dearly for the lesson I got a get out of hurting someone through my own stupidity card. You cant put a price on a get out of hurting someone with your own stupidity card. To be honest I'm not likely to repeat that mistake any time soon but I still figure I got my money worth and then some.

Re: Opinions needed, Is the advanced technology worth the cost?

Been driving with frontal collision avoidance system for 18 months now with ACC. I will not buy another vehicle that doesn't have it? Why? Because we all know we are the best drivers in the world and make no mistakes however just 5 secs of inattention and it will pay for itself. I have tested them to a stop and they also have limited false alarms.
This isn't an automatic system it is an aided system where you can take over at any time and not use it at all if you so choose.

Frankly I could have bought other cars less expensive but there were a couple of things that I wanted.
Cross Path Dectection - no mirror adjusting will allow you to see what is behind and beside you.
Vented seats. I live in Florida nuf said
FCW/ACC see above

I am not the type of guy that loves technology for technology sake but there are improvements in systems which are useful to reduce fatigue, improve safety and improve comfort too.

Its all what your requirements are...

Cross path detection is actually very nice while backing out from tight places in a parking lot.

Hated cruise control but love ACC. On long highway trips I find myself more relaxed and less tired. ACC works so nicely. Wish that car would also keep itself in the middle of the line so i could read a book or something. Just joking ... ACC actually is IMHO worth it.

FCW i hope I will never have to use. Those are all passive safety futures. My current car has airbags and being 13 years old they never went off. Were they a waste of money? Probably not.

BTW. I belive in order to get top safety pick from IIHS car needs to have those systems. Those systems do actually work. In couple of years I think they will be standard just like airbags, abs, traction control, back up camera, etc.

I just got it as I plan to keep the car until wheels fall off. Cheap insurance policy.

Re: Opinions needed, Is the advanced technology worth the cost?

I've got to throw in my two cents too....I love the ACC, as well as the other safety features added by the Advanced Tech Group Package. In my opinion, worth every penny.
LongIsland, I'm curious though about the additional $50/mo lease increase the dealer quoting you. My calculation is that adding the ATG to an Overland lease should add about $20/month to a 36 month lease. What did it end up being?
