ORA II - Not all created equal?

As I'm finalizing my purchase decision, I've come to the conclusion that not all ORA II packages are created equal.

Having gone through numerous spec sheets on numerous cars, I see that some don't have the 220 AMP alternator.

So, Jeep Garage gurus, why should the ORA II package be any different from car to car. Weird, at the very least. Conspiracy, definitely.

Re: ORA II - Not all created equal?

The 220A alternator is not part of ORAII... it's a part of Trailer Tow Group IV.

And even in the equipment description of the trailer tow group it states that the full size spare, HD cooling and 220A alternator are not available with some configurations.

But ORA II INCLUDES Trailer Tow IV, at least on the limited according to Jeep's build and price.

Exactly my point. I'll post two build sheets for you to compare.

Re: ORA II - Not all created equal?

Then it comes down to the "unavailable with some configurations"... which are?

I'm growing to hate that "some configurations" note. Like Qadra-Drive. Who gets it and who doesn't?

Curious to see the build sheets.

Re: ORA II - Not all created equal?

I'm only looking at Limiteds...so who knows what the deal is.

Build sheet one: ORA II - no 220 AMP alternator: http://www.chrysler.com/hostd/window...RJFBMXEC355061

Build sheet two: ORA II - yes 220 AMP alternator: http://www.chrysler.com/hostd/window...RJFBM2EC451315

Those are both diesels. Again according to build and price the 220A alternator is part of the diesel package anyway. Those build sheets show two different ORA II packages too. Sure wish someone would explain that. $2450 on one, $1750 on the other. Why's that? When I ordered two weeks ago there was only the $1750 ORA II, not the $2450 version. When you build its $1750 too. Is that just because of a price change or is there more to it than that?

So what's the difference? And shouldn't they both have Quadra Drive?

OK, I have more questions than the OP. :-)

All solid questions. Glad I could help cause problems!

The Limiteds can't get the QD II only QT II. That's what I understand, at least.

And yeah, I don't understand the price difference, but as I was going through the specs, the alternator is all that stood out.

Maybe Chrysler is double charging? Dunno

Re: ORA II - Not all created equal?

QDII is available on the Limited but only with the diesel or V8 as part of ORAII.

Those two build sheets are weird. I can't see anything that would've eliminated the 220A alternator.

Do we have evidence of this? It's an option on the Overland, and when it's included, it's on the spec sheet. I've not seen a Limited include QD II on the spec sheet.
