Re: Order on hold due to Bright Silver paint shortage

Not sure about the bright silver paint but I know when I was shopping for my Overland in late May the dealer was telling me there was a black paint shortage and they were charging a premium if you wanted any of their black WK2s. So I went with bright silver which they didn't mention any shortage at that time.

Re: Order on hold due to Bright Silver paint shortage

I got the same response when I was looking this past June/July for a black Laredo. I ended up with the bright silver because it wasn't part of the shortage. The only reason for the black is the chemical used to make it comes from Japan. All car companies are not producing black cars right now; but silver should be ok.

Re: Order on hold due to Bright Silver paint shortage

Maybe it's a domino effect.

"Well, we're out of black, but we can make them in silver."

Weeks later: "Hey, where'd all our silver paint go?"

Re: Order on hold due to Bright Silver paint shortage

The Japan Merck plant got up and running nearly three months back, as I recall. So that shouldn't be the cause of any paint shortage as August approaches.

Bright Silver is spun by the angel offspring of the Gods Mercury and Aphrodite, using Platinum and the blood of Unicorns.

Your patience will be rewarded.

As I recall, that was only for the dark pigments such as black, blue and gray.

Bright Silver is not affected by the Merck paint facility. This is because the Merck facility only supplies Pearl paints. The bright silver on the Grand Cherokee is metallic, not a pearl.
