Re: Ordered!!

I'm on my 3rd GC with a sunroof and never had one problem. For me personally ordering with a sunroof is a no-brainer. It opens up the cabin, especially if you have tall people. You get fresh air without having to role down a noisy window. Also has some utility if you need to move something tall through the top and it brings in the great outdoors a little more.

Re: Ordered!!

Having a sunroof, especially a panoramic sized roof, will be something that I will have for every car I purchase from now on. I've always had sunroofs. The little mini sunroofs are ok but then in 2012 I got my Lincoln MKX which had my first ever panoramic sunroof and I fell in love. One of the main reasons I enjoy having it is pictures like this. The sky is always clearer at night when it is cold out. Who wants to be out in the cold though? Nothing like parking in a lot in the middle of nowhere with the heat on and having the safety and security of being in a vehicle while enjoying the warmth and at the same time being able to take pictures of the night sky. No more freezing. No more worrying about some kind of animal sneaking up on me. I love the panoramic sunroofs and highly recommend them.

Re: Ordered!!

The ironic thing is my 2011 Laredo I was able to get with the pana roof, but this year I moved up to the limited and I couldn't get the pana so had to settle for the standard sunroof or should I say moonroof!

Just out of curiosity, how does the ordering process work? I've owned a few new cars but this is the first time I've ever ordered one. What happens once an order is placed? Does it wait until the same configurations is scheduled to be built? Does it get done in the order received? Just curious because this is a new ball game for me. Thanks.

Re: Ordered!!

I never want another sunroof. We ordered our 2000 Mercury Mountaineer (twin to Explorer) just the way we wanted it, including a sunroof. The D@%# thing has leaked on several occasions and now the headliner has white mold on it in places. We found that we never use the thing anyway. Sun in my eyes while driving is purely irritating. I'm happy for all you guys who like your sunroofs; you can keep them.

The order gets place by the dealer and should be entered as a SOLD ORDER with your name so it gets the highest build priority. The order gets a review to make sure all is OK then gets into the scheduled area (several steps including assigned a VIN) until sequenced to be built in the factory which is D1 status. From D1 it can wait 1-2 weeks usually then built, inspected and shipped (no FedEx though....I wish). Estimate from order (assuming dealer has allocation and order banks are open) about 6 weeks for a SOLD ORDER (+/- 2 weeks). The wait is no fun....like Christmas Eve for 6 weeks.....argh! LOL

Re: Ordered!!

We run everything on the same line all at the same time, so your Jeep might be built next to a barebones, no options 4x2. It's all logistics, statistics, and lining your configuration up with all of the other parts that we have on hand.

My Jeep went on D1 status on 3/6/14. Does that mean I can expect it to start moving by the end of the week? How long does it take to get built/inspected once it gets out of that status? My lease was up on February 23rd. I had to extend it one month and it is looking like I might have to extend it one more (I can extend a total of 2 months). They give me a 10 day grace period so right now I have until April 2nd to hand my lease in before I have to pay for another month. My Jeep's estimated delivery is 4/4/14 which is 2 days after my lease must be turned in. I am hoping that I would just be able to get away with renting a car for a few days instead of paying another entire lease payment. I would hate to make that payment and then my Jeep gets delivered a few days afterwards and I end up having to hold on to the lease for another month. Yeah I could turn it in at any time but I would hate paying for an entire month for nothing lol

Forget it. Canceled again for the 3rd year in a row.
No wonder Chrysler is not offering any cash back incentives on the WK2.

I heard on the news Toledo is hiring a bunch of part time workers to give the full timers a reasonable work week. They said they're regularly working 60 hour weeks to keep up with demand for JK's.
