I used to come to these forums several years ago when I owned a Liberty. I sold the liberty before moving to Japan, but am headed back stateside in early 2017.
Waiting for me when I get back will be a 2017 Grand Cherokee Trailhawk in Granite Crystal with the 3.0 diesel and almost all the options. I've been wanting a WK2 since 2010 when they first announced them, and now I'll have one!
Just wanted to share, that's all!
I'll be around lurking here and there reading up on all things WK2 until I take delivery in 9-11 months.
Congrats man! I'm looking to get a Trailhawk too; I just put my order in today. I opted for the Ecodiesel and the rock rails, and I'll be trading in my '15 CRD limited. I really like the one on the Jeep website, so I am going with bright red; matches the towhooks too
So I talked to my dealer today. I originally ordered a Red Trailhawk on 27 Aug, but I also like the look of the silver one's too, so yesterday I requested they change the color on my order. With the production on diesels not starting until October I figured I'd be ok. The dealer texts me back and said that my order has already been assigned a VIN and they can't change the order.
Another weird thing is that the sales manager who made my order three days ago, no longer works there, so now I'm working with some guy named Dale who knows nothing about my order. Is this guy just being lazy or maybe doesn't have the special order privileges and is just wanting me to settle? Anyone out there with special order experience who can help? I'm going to head over there tomorrow just to see what's up.
I also really like the redline red, but the wife didn't want something so bright. She really wanted true blue but it isn't an option for the trail hawk. So we settled for Granite metallic.
Really looking forward to this rig. I owned a 95 ZJ for 8 years, sold it shortly after I joined the military. I really miss the ZJ so maybe the WK2 will fill that void.
I enjoyed the KJ quite a bit as well, but it's not the same as a good grand. I will miss the manual TC lever though.
Gonna be a long year wait until I get to pick it up.
I'm quite a bit like you actually. I'm also military who came to this site because of my KJ, but then ordered the 2017 GC Trailhawk, pretty much just like yours brother! I received my VIN today so the wait begins.
I was a lifetime member over on LOST with the same name, were you ever over there? I still have my KJ CRD, but the tranny is needing work, I just haven't had a chance to pull it out yet. Attached are pics of the old girl for fun.
Best of luck with your order and the move back CONUS brother!
No shit, I will be picking my Trailhawk up in Medford by the way! Or maybe GP, depending on the dealers and shipping.
It looks like we ordered the same exact Jeep, except you got the advanced safety and I got the rear entertainment. That is a nice looking KJ, liking the flat green. Is that plastidip? Mine never made it too far into the off-road world. It did some mudding through Oregon, and a few trails in Moab but it mostly belonged to the wife. Here is a shot of it, I've got some action shots from Moab but can't find them.
I never really got into the LOST forums, I spent most my time on the Jeepsunlimited and jeepkj forums. I stopped in a few times to hunt for good info, those guys were good with their Liberties.
Yah, the trip back to CONUS will be fun....said nobody ever. Should be easier than the trip to OCONUS though.
Dude, that's awesome! Small effing world. I ordered mine from Lithia in Medford for 5% below invoice plus Tread Lighty and military discount. They had never factory ordered one before and I was not comfortable signing anything unless my interest rate was locked so they just ordered it for me anyway with no deposit or anything. They were actually really cool about it and I am surprised. Obviously the no sales tax thing is pretty nice in Oregon too. You should give me a ring when the time comes to pick it up and we'll link up.
For my KJ, that is actual paint in matte OD green. I scraped the paint up pretty nicely in Colorado off-roading and kept hitting it with primer to keep the rust off. I finally decided to just go all out and have the OD green done. I'm pretty happy with it. There's not much off-roading here in southern Oregon so I haven't been even once since moving here. I miss CO...
The move home will suck brother, but at least it's a move home. You heading to Pendleton?
I told them I have factory ordered before from a dealer in Houston via this site. I also said I didn't mind travelling since this was factory and would take some time regardless, but would prefer to work with a local business.
I went in with invoice build sheet using the info from this site and calculated the 5% off that. Since the military and tread lightly discount are Chrysler specific those will be added on when it is all finalized.
This site is an amazing resource in so many ways and I appreciate all the info that has allowed me to do things like this. Thanks to all!
Still no 4th gen uConnect, right? I am ordering a diesel one of these too as soon as my VW emissions settlement arrives, but I'm hoping that it takes long enough so that the "late availability" radio will get added. But, I've also heard rumblings of Q1.
It's been intimated multiple times here by our insiders that the new audio head isn't likely until sometime after the first of the year, if then. There's been no clear indication by FCA that they have been able to pick up on.
Congrats! I am also waiting on my order. I ordered a 2017 Grand Cherokee limited 4x4, Velvet Red pearl coat, 3.0 Diesel. I checked with the dealer today thinking it should be in because I had a estimated ship date of 10/17/17 but he said it was in paint and not shipped yet. I wonder how long after paint it ships. Anyone know?
I ordered my 2017 Grand Cherokee ED on 08/23/16. About 3 weeks later I was assigned a VIN. The 1st week in Oct. I received an estimated ship date of 10/17/16. I check on the status Oct. 25th and learned that my vehicle was in Paint on 10/22/16. That was the last update I got so far. I will check again next week and let you know the progress. To what I see online, after paint it gets matched with the frame, engine and trans. so it still has a long way to go.
