Thank you for the link! I think I may have overlooked it, thinking "park assist" was one of those auto steering devices, and glossed over it.

Re: Ordered Overland and it sure hasn't been smooth.

the 730 plays dvds in the back while driving and back and front if parked. id never order a jeep, i wouldnt be able to stand the wait.

i saw a poster here who said he had to order 70 miles away from his home in n va. Thats actually where i bought my jeep, in alexandria at ourisman. Customer service wasnt bad i guess......although, i looked at the spare tire, its a kumho, not a goodyear fortera. and no rim, just a black steel wheel. is that a jeep trick or a dealer trick? still happy with the overland though. very fast for a jeep, incredible sound system and is a major head turner.

Re: Ordered Overland and it sure hasn't been smooth.

Got a copy of the POC (Priced Order Confirmation) from the dealer when I asked for the VON and Build Sheet.

It shows a VON and also shows a Status of "C - Tentative Schedule", which as far as I can tell is at the very beginning of the process

So the beginning of July is when you ordered and your still in C? I'd look into when it was actually "ordered" and if the dealer is on restriction for to many orders.. ON your POC it should show an Order date I believe, if not call the 800-Chrysler number they will search your VON and could probably tell you when it was placed..

Mine was placed on the 31st of July, The following Monday (2 days later) the order was placed a VON was issued, on that Thursday (3 days later), it moved from C to D, a VIN was assigned and its been there since.. Waiting for it to finally go to D1 and further.

Re: Ordered Overland and it sure hasn't been smooth.

Re: the speed at which an order should go to D status, mine was at D1 less than a week after I ordered it on 7/10. I ran by the dealer the following Thursday to check equipment, and they had the order sheet showing D1 status at that point.

And there we've sat since...

The black steel wheel isn't a trick - it's normal for a hidden spare, even full size, to be non-matching. As for the tire, I have a kuhmo spare, too, but the other four tires are michelin.

Yikes, that's what I thought

The Date Ordered shows as 8/1/2010 (remember they told me that I could get it just as fast with 430N by starting over, and claimed it would be expedited )

Build Priority shows as 01, Scheduling Priority shows as "1-Sold Order".

Wife and I were talking today and are starting to feel like we may just need to pass on Chrysler as an organization, but we really identify with Jeep as far as vehicles go.

This is our first ordering experience and it's completely amazing how hard it is to give them our money.

Keep in mind that the new Grand Cherokee is in rather high demand, so there's a rather long line of people waving cash in the air. Like at a hopping nightclub, the bartender takes longer to serve up another round of drinks.

I understand that with most vehicles 6-8 weeks, if not 8-12 weeks, is not an unexpectedly long wait time for a special order vehicle, even one that is mass production (as opposed to a true limited production model).

It isn't fun, but wait we must.

I just hope I get mine in time to try out some trails I want to go on before they close for the winter or inaccessible due to snow. But I'm a patient man..

I order a Limited 4x4 with only the upgraded radio (730N) on 7/5, the dealer says I should get it by 8/24. I plan on trying out on the beach in Corolla in September. Hope it comes in early - by this weekend!
