Re: Ordered Overland and it sure hasn't been smooth.

Spoke with Customer Assistance at 1-877-426-5337 (1-877-IAM-JEEP), and they could find no record of the VON number...

Even stranger, I spoke with Customer Assistance twice...

Yesterday: CSR actually was going to "check on it" and didn't even get the VON, my last name, the dealer, or anything else.

Today: Different CSR called back and after searching records, was going to "check on it" with the dealer, and as he got off the phone, I asked him which dealer he was going to call, and he gave a completely different dealer than the one I was working with.

As I'm reading the threads, I wonder if the dealer is over allocation and just hasn't said it, how can one tell?

Re: Ordered Overland and it sure hasn't been smooth.

I ordered my Overland on June 21st . I have to go back and try to get a VON and/or VIN. My dealer is small but I like them. Dealer inventory of Overlands in Massachusetts is nearly non-existent.

Re: Ordered Overland and it sure hasn't been smooth.

The new jeeps went into production the second week in May I think and it took me until about to weeks ago to actually see an Overland model and drive it and I had to drive 1 1/2 hours from my house to see it then. There are almost no Overlands anywhere that I can find. I ordered an Overland yesterday from my local dealer, but he like everyone else orders all the 2011 JGC's he can every month (they can sell all they can get so why not). His allotment cutoff date is the 12th of the month, he said, so when he placed my order yesterday all I got really was a promise to order one on the 12th of September (the next allocation). I got a Order Confirmation (POC) sheet with a VON number, but it really doesn't mean a whole lot at this point because he can't really order one now. My POC sheet says it is restricted and a pending order. Dealer says I will get a real or firm order in September. He also says that there is a three month deliverly for an Overland (after the order is firm) so the way I see it anyone who orders an Overland now will be wrapping Christmas presents when it arrives, me included.

Re: Ordered Overland and it sure hasn't been smooth.

Three month wait sounds pretty accurate; I'm expecting mine to end up being about that, if not a shade longer (ordered July 10, still not built yet).

I wonder about a dealer who blows all his order allocation on just building stock- I know they'll be able to sell them, but it discourages people wanting to order up their own. I'd have to consider talking to another dealer who leaves a few slots for eager customers.

Looks like the Dealer is waiting on allocation, so it indeed appears like they never bothered to communicate that they had to wait until x day to get this rolling.

Re: Ordered Overland and it sure hasn't been smooth.

I think that all of the Chrysler dealers are ordering every 2011 they can as soon as they are allowed to. If there is any advantage to having a sold order arrive earlier then they (the dealers) are probably marking all of the orders as sold just to get them quicker. I think there is probably no advantage. and I think one of the regulars on here with inside information said as much yesterday. That is why they have allotments and sold orders probably mean nothing. The dealers are desperate to get all the 2011's they can, so if marking them as sold would get more sooner you can bet they would do it even if they really were not sold.

They have only built around 2,000 Overlands so far, so inventory will be tight everywhere until they get caught up. There are currently more than 1000 in D1 status waiting to be built.

Gosh thats not too uplifting and mines not even D1 yet, although ordered almost 3 weeks ago.. Although if you crank about 600-900 or so a day and about 10% is Overlands.. That means mine might not be built for um... 3-4 weeks :/

The 10% figure was low due to the delay in Overland builds caused by late arrival features (like QL). Now that Overland production has been ramped up the % will increase. Hang in there, the wait is always tough but well worthwhile when the day comes!

Re: Ordered Overland and it sure hasn't been smooth.

Milous,

Do you think that the delivery time will improve any over the next few months? Is there a third shift starting or already started? Is the per day build scheduled to increase from the 800-900 per day?

Thanks!

Thanks, I hope mine is one of those 1000! I'll have to get the VON or VIN from my dealer.
