Re: Ordered Overland and it sure hasn't been smooth.

My dealer just called me and told me that the only model chrysler is accepting orders for right now is the laredo. My overland is currently on "restriction" and my dealer is pretty certain this is not a hold up on their end. The laredos are not showing any sort of restriction and are available for order immediately. Any thoughts on this?

I do have a VON but right now I guess I am just in a holding pattern...

Me too! 4 weeks since I placed my order, and not one word about its status.

(Start of rant ) I've spent my career in Quality and Customer Service, and this definitely is not good customer service. It's great that there is status information being relayed on this forum (and it's much appreciated, too), but uniform feedback through the regional rep's, and the dealers, regarding order delays, restrictions, etc., would show that the 'new' Chysler/Jeep has some sense of customer focus. I'm sure most of us understand the growing pains associated with new model introduction and manufacture, but would appreciate some feedback on how our individual orders are being affected by this. (End of rant )

There, I feel better now.

I'd be willing to bet that the salesman that called is more afraid of you going to a dealer that isn't on restriction for quota, and not afraid to give you that story!

I'd think this as well.

There are some features not currently available for order, but there's yet been no reports of general inability to order an entire trim level. I'd just wonder if the dealer maxed out their allocation and ability to order those trims. I'd call around.

I've called all dealers within 100 miles and every single one is telling me that it is some sort of part or trim restriction and that it is not due to the manufacturer putting quotas or limits on them.

The only option I added to the Overland I am trying to order is the RER nav.

Weird. I wonder if they have all the Overlands/Limiteds for the next few months already spoken for.

Just got off the phone with yet another dealer and he is the second one to tell me that it is a part shortage on both the quadralift and panoramic sunroof.

Ah. Guess I'm two for two in parts I'm waiting on for mine then.

Eventually Milous will offer his insight, but he hasn't mentioned anything over the past few days about any part shortage and Marlon has said to have built many overlands over the past few days.. Maybe they are restricting new overland orders until they get the backlog filled some.

I think that is exactly what is happening. What I don't understand is why the most advertised options are the hardest to get.

I agree with JohnS, if there's an issue, whatever it is, far more goodwill is generated by communicating than by not.

That concept feels like basic CS.

Re: Ordered Overland and it sure hasn't been smooth.

the dealers are confused, no question. That is due primarly to Chrysler..! That said, the dealers have started to receive definitive information regarding exterior/interior colors and options. As of Sept. 1, the Garmin Nav,. Quadral-Lift, technology pkg. will be available and can be ordered. Mineral Grey Metallic and Saddle interior will be avaialble as well.

I have never been asked to place a deposit. I am going on my 5th Jeep GC. I would not have placed a deposit. Also, you can negotiate the price to Invoice, and you can negoitate the dealer holdback $s, that the manufacture gives the dealer for each vehicle they sell. Believe, at invoice and minus the full holdback $s, the dealer is still making a decent profit. It is all about selling volume, i.e. 40 + units/month.

I am placing my 2011 Overland Hemi order 1st week of Sept.
