Re: Ordering a 2014?? Which model

To find out hold back on a Jeep, take the MSRP subtract the destination charge. Then multiply that number by .03. That's the dealer holdback.

It should, but haven't been there. Going tomorrow AM. But website says price 50880 which includes destination, sale price on the website is 45724, so I believe there is no catch and destination is included.

Now, I'm wondering why the summit says it has the trailer town group and overland doesn't say anything! But anyway, I'm not towing anything other than a bike carrier... so why would I care! I'm just sticking a hitch ball to keep people away :-)

One other thing to check is that price isn't with all the incentives that you would need to be able to get. Some dealers do that to get people in the door. Oh ya, we will sell for this great price but that's if your eligible for all the incentives out there.

mfa81, where are you located? Curious if you are in MA and seeing the price at the same dealer as I am.

And is it correct that the dealer gets another 2% in holdback if the buyer uses the affiliates program to get 1% off invoice?

Just trying to figure all this out before I start negotiating.

Thanks in advance.

That's a good catch! But here that's usually their AS-LOW-AS price, sale price is what everyone would get with no rebates or incentives, the AS-LOW-AS price which brings the price down a grand more would include stuff like owners discount, military discounts.

I'm in Idaho, Boise area. Had been to a dealer this afternoon, the one with 4% down from invoice price and I let him now that this is going on all over the place, so he wouldn't come saying the price is a huge deal! I would say the same for him, a price advertised in the website as a sale price still have room for negotiation or at least freebies!

Yes, if you get a dealer who is honest and understands how it works. I just tried negotiating most of holdback plus another 2% for using the Affiliate pricing plus $2500 in incentives (for a 2013 V8). The sales manager balked at that idea (this was after a week and a half of negotiations). I was set to go from a 2012 Overland to a 2013 Overland for $522 to $1,722 (depending on what I could get for my trade). They could make money, but basically was told in different words than this, but they don't want me getting that good of a deal. He said $3,500 - $5,000. They won't be getting my business again.

First they say incentives on 2014s and 2013s are the same, there are none. I said, wait a minute, there's $1,500 power bonus on the V8 (which is what we were discussing, and another $500 cash allowance. I said before you go any further I'm a very educated buyer and don't say somthing that isn't correct again. Pissed me off.

Then they can't give any of holdback because it's a dealer trade. Then they offer half of the holdback or more. Oh, and they would give me 3.5% below invoice on a 2014, but then a few days later when I told them I wanted a 2013, he'd only go 1.5% below invoice. What a joke. Well, they don't know it but my family member is best friends with the owner's bestest of best friends and they are one of the biggest dealers in the country, possibly the #1 dealer. Needless, to say the owner will find out about all of their lies, and that I had an appointment but then got pushed off onto a new sales associate, because my salesman's (guy I bought from just a year and a half ago) friend showed up and he showed up unannounced from out of state and was more difficult then me. Yea right.

I had an answer for every little trick they tried. They basically couldn't out negotitate me and I think that's why I couldn't get a deal done. He says, so you bought this vehicle from us 2 years ago? I said, no I bought it 1 year and 5 months ago .pause., from your dealership.
Then he says, let's look at the mileage, you have 17,000 miles, blah, blah, blah. I stopped him right there. I said, it doesn't matter, it's market value. I can sell it for $41,000 easily on autotrader. And they had a used 2012 Overland with same options and same miles listed for $47,000 which I pointed out. Then he brings out a copy of what I paid for mine. I said so, you're only offering me this (which was actually $800 above KBB trade excellent price), but not enough and I got much more compared to KKB trade price for my last two grand cherokees. I then explained how someone had just recently sold their 2012 Overland for the same price as what they paid for it and they had several phone calls as soon as they put it up on autotrader.

He does have a granite with black coming in but I don't like black interiors. Might also consider the Max Steel with blue interior. Al

No offense but you seem a bit greedy. If they are offering you $800 over KBB trade price you should probably take it. And its pretty rare to sell a car for more than u paid...

The dealer gets 2% off invoice. Holdback is based on MSRP.
