Our Recent trip to USA from Aust.

Last New Years eve, we flew in to Seatle, all the way from Perth, Western Australia, and as I had/have a a GC Overland on order, due April 2012, I hired a GC V6 Laredo from Alamo.
We took a drive trip to Las Vegas and covered about 2,000 Miles. Had a great time and the GC was great, went over the mountains from Eugene on 58 in Oregon and down 97 to LV., with a detour back up to Crater Lake. (See dash board temp).
It was all very sureal for as, having left 40c degrees + temps back home..
The GC didnt miss a beat, was extremly comfortable even as the entry level unit.
Here are a few pics..

Re: Our Recent trip to USA from Aust.

Sounds like a great trip, with the land portion done in style.

Hard to appreciate those temps, with being 40 deg C here in Perth today.

Using the metric system here in the USA is not allowed

How hard was it for you to drive on the "wrong" side of the road?

Easy realy, have done it quite a few times over the years. Worst is in suburban streets with less road markings and other cars.

My experience is that it is easier to change from driving a right hand drive to a left hand drive vehicle rather than changing the other way.

I've noticed that after being abroad for a month or two of driving left hand drive vehicles, when returning to Australia, it takes longer to recalibrate.

But maybe thats just me.

Hmm. Have to consider that one. Can I come back to you in a fortnight?

Re: Our Recent trip to USA from Aust.

a) Here in Orlando we get people in rental cars (Florida used to have special license plates for rent cars, did away with it because Tallahasee thought it might allow targetting of tourists. Now rent cars have big bar codes on a rear window). Problem is expert drivers have automatic reactions and if from a RHD country, they are rong.
b) All of my digital cars have English or metric displays but change one is to change all. What surprised me was the KM odo, C temp, and MPH speedo on the same display.
