all said and done. Cheaper than estimated repairs and I got a new jeep.
One has to know how to play dealer games. I never trade for less than blue book. In this case, blue book only goes to 2011....but I settled for that price...then having them match other dealer pricing on the new one...bam... ~2K after my check comes back. one needs to be prepared to walk away from a deal... I did just that at 2 other dealers... the 3rd one was willing to take what I was willing to spend.
Edit. I did make 2 payments on the old one so I guess that cost me another 600... in the scheme of things, it was still cheaper than renting one for three months
Ya except I didn't see anything there about paying sales tax in there. Which is probably another $2500-3500 depending what your rate is out there. Anyway you obviously can afford it. Can't say I don't like the new color as it's the same as mine

Some states only charge sales tax on the difference between the new vehicle and the trade. He'll only have to pay tax on $2000 which will be less than $200.

You lucky bastards!! Ya, here in lovely CA you get dinged for he 7.75% no matter what. Well then not the worst thing I've heard of if the motivation was to get a more desirable color.

Re: Out with old... in with new

In TN we just pay the difference in the sale price and trade in price (7%).

True, but for us in the Golden State, the weather more than makes up for the difference.
