Overheating

Hey everyone. Just trying to figure out where my jeep temperature should be running at. I had to change the thermostat due to it leaking. Topped the coolant and and open the purge valve to let the air purge. The engine is operating at 200-210 while driving and when sitting in the driveway goes up to like 224 then falls back down to 210 when the fan turns on. The fan doesn't come on till around 224. Are these normal operating temperatures or is it overheating slightly. Need help. Thanks.

Re: Overheating

That's about the same temp's that my Hemi runs. It has the OEM 190* thermostat in it.

Re: Overheating

Doesn't sound out of the ordinary. Coolant temps run higher to help the emissions system work properly.

Re: Overheating

O ok. Seem like before I remember it running a little cooler at idle, like around 210, but I may be wrong.

Re: Overheating

Your cooling system is working as designed..... Not overheating.

Check out this thread for more info on how it was designed to cool;

To hot
