While true, the situation I was referring to was the first number I provided!

I was at the dealership within 15 minutes of it's actual arrival thanks to you Milous!

An order placed that late in the month would not typically be built the following month. For example, I ordered July 15 (the first day orders opened up that month). Those orders were for September builds.

The current allocation period (which opened up over 3 weeks ago) was for November builds.

The only way you'll get an earlier build is if:
1. You haven't ordered anything that's not available yet (and note, "able to order" is not equal to "it can be built today." Again, in my example, July 15 was the first day the Media Center 430N was "orderable," but vehicles with the 430N weren't actually "buildable" until the September build period)
2. There is an allocation available (again, due to Grand Cherokee popularity, if your order isn't placed early in the allocation period for a given month, this is extremely unlikely. Especially for Overlands, which are being taken up FAST)

Hope this helped, and didn't add to the confusion. The biggest issue I've seen is people not distinguishing "feature orderable date" vs. "feature buildable date."

One more example - when Mineral Gray, Saddle, and the Advanced Warning Group opened up for order last month, they opened for November builds. They won't be built until November. When November 1 rolls around, you'll quickly see those orders start being built.

Sorry for the bad news, but glad you finally got some information.

Wow, you can't get any closer than that! When my SRT was due to arrive to my dealer I was there at 9:00am that day. But the truck was delayed as he was overweight when he passed through one of the road scales about 50 miles away. He had to unload one vehicle and mine was on the lower rear of the truck, fortunately we got a hold of the driver via the shipping company and told them to leave someone else's car at the weigh station, that the SRT HAD to be delivered! It finally arrived at 3:30pm, the all-day wait was of course worth it.

I wanted to make sure I was there before delivery as I was afraid that there would be employee "test drives", very common for the SRT vehicles!

That does make some sense....thanks for the explanation. I hope to receive a vin in the next few weeks and they start the build early nov....I'm still holding onto the dream of dec. for my delivery!!

Re: Overland 4x4 Restriction

It's because of the tech package and saddle. The dealer should have told you, but then again he probably didn't know. There is really no excuse for your dealer not knowing. My salesman was out on different days when I would call with questions before placing the order. He said it was because they had to go to meetings and/or seminars on the new JGC with their area sales manager. If your dealer sent his sales staff for this they should have been up to date. Also any question I had which wasn't addressed within his meetings, he would pick up the phone and get me an answer.

If you reference the link I posted earlier, it shows estimated production dates for late availability items. Order availability and production availability are two totally different things. You can order ahead of production availability. That way they have orders ready when the parts ship in. It also has to do with things like parts scheduling for JIT (just in time) style production. This way parts for your unit ship in the day before assembly, no warehousing or large parts stocks on hand. This streamlines and cuts production costs for manufacturers. It's become common practice in many production facilities.

At least Lisa finally answered your question and dug for the answer. There are a few people at the 1-800 customer service line who will dig for the answers and help you. Lisa and a lady named Mary Lou are two of them, the others I have spoke with could care less and would give me the get you off the line I don't know answers.

On the flip side my dealer told me that it would probably be January due to back-log, but it's looking like maybe a 6 week deal now. I'd rather be done that way than what has happened in your case for sure.

Lisa just called me too, she tells me it's scheduled to be built on 10/11. She says nothing specific is holding things up and the line is at full production. I ordered mine on 8/21, it's an Overland 4x4 with a Hemi.

Lisa told me the same thing, only my dealership did warn me it could possibly be late dec. before it was delivered.
