You would think they would at least try to match the grilles on the laredo's and limiteds versus having two different inserts for the upper and lower grilles.
My new Leredo-X grille was damaged by an installer that was putting 3M paint protection on the hood. I think he melted the chrome with his heat gun when removing the Jeep emblem on the hood. He bought a new grille for me, it's the Overland mesh grille, not chrome mesh but black mesh behind the chrome on the front. I put it in myself, and it looks so much better than the stock Leredo Grille with the vertical fins. It matches the lower grille perfectly.

Can you put a JEEP emblem back on over the 3M protection?

I think that you could, but the emblem is hard to pull off without damaging it. I prefer the cleaner look without the emblem, so I didn't bother putting it back on.

Re: Overland Mesh Grille

Just in case anyone is looking, I had my dealership order one for me. List is $424 through the dealership but he was great and hooked me up for the ebay price since I have been waiting for the inserts since the beginning of time.

The link is the full summit grille, you mentioned you've been waiting for "inserts". Which did you order the summit grille or is the insert finally available? I thought it was established the overland grill is one piece and no insert can be added.. Thanks!

Re: Overland Mesh Grille

Still can't figure why the Chrome "Summit" Grille is available, but the Mopar Accessory Chrome "Mesh" Grille is not?

Its apparent that the inserts are a no go, so I picked up the full grille. Makes no sence to me that the inserts were priced at approx $395 and you can pick up the whole grille for $420 something. To me its a no brainer and Ive been determined to get this type of look for the overland.

Re: Overland Mesh Grille

Just got my Summit chrome grill for the Overland. Ordered it from my dealer for 10% disc.

Now all I need is for the darn Overland to get here.

Re: Overland Mesh Grille

Just completed my install. Looks pretty nice, not a tremendous difference but it does class it up bit. Jut my 2 cents. It really was extremely easy to complete. Took about 35 minutes start to finish. I used the instructions from this link listed earlier in someone's post: How-To: Fog light HID kit in 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee (pic heavy) The only difference in the steps I took was rather than "cutting" off the pop rivets, I actually chose to drill them out. Used something like 1/8" drill bit took it in just a tad and then popped it right off. Rather then purchasing a "pop rivet gun" that I saw someone mention, I just went down to O'Reilly's and picked up some universal body trim inserts and they fit perfectly and look no different than the originals.

One tip if you choose to do this is in regards to the black trim around the wheel well. He mentions not pulling to hard because the trim is still attached, well if you can see the gray or green colored tab (see his image by the tape), you have already pulled to hard. I should have taken a picture, but in order to release that clip without breaking the point where it attaches to the black trim, reach up behind the felt liner with your hand and some pliers and gently squeeze the clip from the back side and it will pop out without the potential of damaging your trim. Once you get to this point, you will likely see what I am talking about. (perhaps I was just unlucky, but I consider myself very meticulous so if others have popped that clip out by simply pulling on the trim... kudos to you)

We have another WK2 that I have purchased the grill for so perhaps I can get some photos next time around. Best wishes to all who take on this simple upgrade.
