Overland or Summit??

Help me decide which one I want!!

I'm currently driving a Lexus GS 350 F Sport but my lease is nearing the end. I also took over my sisters car payment on her '14 GC Overland since she got a divorce... I love it and want to replace it with a 'new' one. Hers has about 50k mi on it, not that it's old but I would like to start fresh if that makes any sense and get this one out of her name.

I really don't know which one I like better exterior wise. I like em both. Kinda want the Summit for the change in exterior... But I'm a young guy, I feel like the Overland is better fitting. Not sure if I'm just crazy or dumb...

I'm wanting the Harmon Kardon and quieter interior though. The Summit uses more acoustic glass. Also the softer seats! The Overland seat cushion is firmer, too firm almost.

Does it sound like I should get the Summit? It's only like $3k more, which isn't a big deal.

Re: Overland or Summit??

Unless you're destined to mod for off-road, it sound like the Summit will float your boat better than the Overland.

Overland or Summit??

Yeah I don't do much off roading. I live down a nasty dirt road but that's about the extent of it. And trying to get to the beginning of bike trails. But that's about the extent of it and I think the summit would survive. They both ride on 20s (I don't really like the smaller rims of the trail rated O so I don't consider it).

Re: Overland or Summit??

I bought a '14 Overland because I wanted the off road package. Even on the 18s it was a great ride. That said, I'm looking forward to a '16 Summit. My only off roading was time on the beach. I realize now that the Summit and the 20s can handle that if so desired.

The front parking sensors and headlamp washers r real handy on the Summit....HK stereo is very nice...I also find my "adaptive" bi-zenons floating around corners interesting

Re: Overland or Summit??

Wow, 50,000 miles on a 2014?? Geezus
As far as the two choices it's obviously up to you. I have a '14 Summit V8 and love it. I like the features that come with the Summit as well as the styling differences. You really can't go wrong with either one they are both awesome!

Re: Overland or Summit??

There's a few things that you can't add to the Overland that the Summit has.

Acoustic Glass
Active Noise Cancelation
Adaptive lighting
Washer Nozzles for the headlights
Front Park Assist

The HK system is an optional extra on the Overland here.

I'm pretty sure that's all. For the low price difference, I opted for the Summit over the Overland... just figured I wouldn't want to spend a few years regretting not having taken those options (FCA doesn't do leasing in Canada).

Yeah it's at 47,983mi right now. It's not even a late build. Build date is 3/14. She lived out in the country... And I agree!! I'm a huge GC fan

Very good points, I think my mind is made up! And I don't plan on leasing the GC. My Lexus was a lease because the residual value was 73% (insanely good) and I wrote it off since I own a business. But I sold my work truck not too long ago so the new GC will be my primary vehicle. A lease wouldn't work. And the residual values are so low on most domestic vehicles that I don't see the point in leasing them anyways.

Re: Overland or Summit??

I was looking at the same decision. Ended up ordering a Summit that I'll pick up later this month. After ordering and looking at the Overlands, I think I do like the bumper on the Overland better.

Adaptive HID's
More Acoustic Glass
Active noise cancellation
Canyon brown leather interior

Those were my main reasons for going Summit over Overland. Maybe I'll swap an Overland front bumper on someday if I end up off roading more than I initially plan (which will be very limited more than likely).

^^I think I like the presence of the summit front better. It seems a bit more aggressive

Re: Overland or Summit??

The only reason I can see to get the Overland is if you want the 18" wheel for offroad performance. If not the additional features make the Summit a much better buy.

Responses like yours have helped me decide that I am going to get a Summit. I also have two kids, so I'm sure the summit will fit right in at soccer games
