You sir are my hero! That is exactly what I was trying to convey. the damn single piece veneer curves around edges and wraps from one horizontal plane to the perpendicular vertical plane.

Veneer costs more than a solid piece of wood. Also they would never use solid wood in a car due to sheer weight.

I didn't even want to comment on this. There is a performance bicycle manufacturer that makes their frames out of solid wood. Look it up.

Replacing steel for wood is a different story.

Why would anyone think plastic covered with a paper thin sheet of wood would be lighter than a solid plank?
