I want the options of the Overland but don't care so much for the piping and Overland logo on the seats.
If I order a 4x4 Limited with 5.7 V8, Offroad Adventure II and Luxury Group II, will I have the equivalent of the Overland but without the piping and logo on the seats?
With those options on the Limited, are there any other differences between the Overland and Limited?
IMO, if you're gonna be spending almost the same amount of money, id buy an overland...i'm thinking of the long term, when you go to sell it...people would pay more for the overland, i would think
You won't get the wood trim, including the beefy steering wheel. Have you tried the Overland steering wheel? This is one of the primary reasons that I opted for the Overland vs Limited.
My wife initially hated the Overland logo in pics, until I pointed out we had a Jeep logo in the same spot on our 2007 GC Limited. She also thought she would hate the piping, until she got to see it on the dealer’s lot (THANK GOD… because, by then… I had already ordered her “surprise” Overland).
I am counting on my limited selling better than an overland in a couple of years. Here is my description. "fully loaded limited all options of the overland without the problematic air suspension" Hahaha
I am not being rude at all. Last I check a message board is a place for opinions and those are just mine. People post day in a day out to get opinions and that is what this person was doing with the two models. I really do hope I eat my words in a few years
First of all, thanks for all the replies. This seems like a great community. I previously owned a couple of GC's and really like the looks of the new one.
I have seen the Overland in person and the logo's really jumped out at me. Just don't like those and the piping compared to the plain leather of a limited. No disrespect to those who have them - a personal preference thing.
I will compare the cost of 4x4 V8 Limited with OAII and Luxury II vs. Overland.
I did a better search and it looks like others have grappled with the Overland logos and piping and wood also. I am including those links below for reference for others comparing the Limited with the Overland:
Regarding the air suspension, I am really looking forward to that also. I had a 2004 Touareg with air suspension and really liked the ability to increase ride height offroad, to lower for entry/exit, and to lower for highway driving. Sounds like Quadra-Lift has similar settings. So nice to cruise someplace on the highway in comfort and pull off the road and be able to traverse decent terrain.
I elected to go with a Limited (Luxury Grp II, Offroad II, Hemi) and got just what I wanted without the piping or steering wheel that I did not care for. Since I was able to buy off the lot, my dealer was seriously motivated and made me an offer well below invoice. Guess I am not too worried about resale at the moment. It's a great Jeep!
Thanks for that feedback. Good to know they are making them that way as I would prefer to buy off the lot if possible rather than special order. What color combo did you get? Nice to hear a good deal also. What was your MSRP vs. actual sale price excluding tax/license?
The decision would be based solely on the air-suspension. You either want it or not. The rest of the stuff except for the seat trim, leather dash pad and steering wheel are available on the Limited. Otherwise, the Overland is otherwise the best choice.
Question: can you get a Overland without the air suspension? I know in the beginning that's how they were made (without air suspension). But how about now?
If you can find one that had an earlier build date you can get it without. But will have to take whatever color and options it comes with. If you can even find one that has not been bought yet. FYI go to the dealer and they can do a search within whatever radius for vehicles with certain options, might be able to find that way.
I got the "Guiness" special - Black with a Tan interior. Going from memory MSRP was $44690 and my negotiated price was $37998 + TTL. It worked for me! Now if I could just get the iPhone - 430N to play nicely together!
Dealer is correct on both counts. Quadra-Lift will become available on the Limited once supply issues are resolved (high Overland demand has created a shortage of QL parts).
I picked up my new Limited w 5.7 V8 on Blackberry with dark interior, 730N, 18 inch wheels & tow package this past Wednesday afternoon, and I could not be happier.
Earlier that day, Subaru repurchased my Outback "shaker", so I made an informed decision that I did not really need the QL and that I did not really want to take a chance on the QL's reliability in its' first year (Although I am sure that it will be A-OK). And, I had no desire to have 20 inch tires package, with what I consider to be a lack of replacement and winter tire choices at this time. I could afford the Overland, and there were some available in colors that I would choose, but I got a great deal on the Limited that was built with exactly what I wanted on my new Jeep, and nothing extra/unnecessary, so I drove off with it.
In the past, I have typically erred on the side of underpowered engines to save $$ and gas, but at age 62 I decided that I could afford to pay the gas costs differences of the 5.7 and that my winter weekend drives to ski in Vermont would be easier.
Not too much mileage yet, but I am extremely impressed so far with fit, comfort and driving prowess of the new GC. Happy New Year to all!
The added care + covers around 700 parts. The bumper to bumper covers around 2000 parts, and costs more. There are multiple extended warranties and can all be viewed on Jeep's official site.
