Re: Overland vs. Limited w/ Nav, Luxury, Tow & Off road group: What are the differenc

Sorry this tread got side tracked,

So the consensus seems to be, functionally the limited can be configured the same as an Overland. If you don't mind not getting the few nonessential extras the Overland offers, you can save a good few saw bucks. For me I like to get all the goodies in fact I wish I could have had the extras from the summit not available on the overland. But in the end the overland was the truck That fit my needs. To each there own.

I ordered the Limited CRD MAX STEEL Lux2 ORA2 NAV CD...everything but Adv Tech.

My reasoning was: I want a more maintenance free exterior/interior and it has all the major features I want. The floor carpet is black (I prefer) to resist stains from my business. The truck is black so the black plastic body molding vs painted is negligible and more durable. I think the leather dash looks great but may not wear as well...it would be a gamble to keep 8 years or more since I've never had a leather dash.

I doubt by the time I run the wheels off of it, the used value will be much less based on trim level since the options are nearly identical.

The Overland is more classy so I understand the appeal.

Thats with a $100 deductible. I just ran it with a $0 deductible and the cost was $4,181 for the unlimited warranty.

My issues have been small, but I have had a lot of them. If I had a $100 deductible my out of pocket would still be $1,000+ for my issues. So, I would only consider a no deductible plan.

Just "save up" your minor issues and get them fixed on less frequent visits. It would take 40 extra visits to justify the 0 deductible.

I leased back in April and overlands were 2% lower residuals than limited. And that was the case in nearly every month for the past year. But money factor for the overland was significantly lower so it was a wash.

I had this dilemma before I leased. I'm glad I got the overland mostly because I'm cheap and wouldn't have equipped a limited so loaded. This way, I got the standard + adv tech pack only. And it's awesome. I washed it for the first time today (I know! But I hate washing cars. I'm so picky, it takes me FOREVER to finish.) and its beautiful.

Oh. And folding mirrors. The driver's side isn't an issue, but the truck is wide enough that it makes folding the passenger's side a real pain.

Bear in mind I've had 17 failures in not even two years. Its the $100 deductible per service visit or per claim? Might want to check on that.

17?? In less then TWO years?

What kinds of things went wrong? Is this unique to 2011 or across the line?

2011s had a LOT of problems. 2012s, not so much. I am saying this based on the TSBs shown by year at wk2jeeps.com.

Yup. There are certainly people with no problems (most people), but if you look around the board there is definitely inconsistent quality. My issues are all minor, there are just a lot of them. Mainly switches going bad and needing to be replaced, cruise control twice, drivers lock button, hatch lock button and liftgate glass release button, HVAC control panel, I had a leak coming from sunroof drains that were never connected at the factory...I had a steering rack leak...things like that.

Some people have had pretty serious issues though...even a couple with multiple Jeeps.

Hopefully these issues are limited to the first year, 2011. Nonetheless, they were a factor in deciding to stay with BMW. I've had very little go wrong in any of the 6 or so I've had. Then again, I never had one with more than 70K miles.

I think if you read through the forums they aren't just limited to the 2011. There are issues reported with the 2014s too..mine is a very late 2011 build.
