Overland vs. Limited w/ Nav, Luxury, Tow & Off road group: What are the differences?

No doubt this has been asked and yes, I did search, but I'm still puzzled.

Looking at an Overland or, possibly, a Limited with both the Luxury, Tow & Offroad groups, which mechanically appear to make it an Overland.

After spending much time in Jeep.com it seems there is about a 3k difference for a leather dash, which strikes me as more easily damaged, and some misc. interior trim upgrades such as fancier seats and the like. I may actually prefer the plainer black dash top in the tan Limited as it appears more durable than leather (less likely to tear & fade) and doesn't reflect the white stitching in the windshield.

Other than the seats, dash and maybe some interior changes what are the differences? I increasingly am wondering if the Overland is worth an additional 3k +/-

Comments? Thanks!

When you re-sell or trade it, you will get very little for all the extras you put on the Limited, but you will get most of it back on the Overland. So that $3K difference will disappear and then some.

What SNUKE said. I'm kind of in the same spot, but when you add the Overlands 20" wheels it closes to within $1,500. I personally like the trim changes inside and the leather dash, I also like the body painted exterior trim. I'm leasing so the residuals are the same, but he is rut about the resale differences.

Depends on how long you keep it. I keep mine 10+ years and 200K and it won't make any difference.

I think JWS360 is probably right in his thinking.

I'm glad I got a limited. Almost wish I got a Laredo-X, less stuff to break.

Like I think I wish I had a manual lift gate. It will NEVER last and probably cost a fortune to fix. I was backing it up with a trailer today and some times I like to have gate open. But the gate closed as soon as I put it in reverse. Ugh.

I ordered my limited to not get some common options that are typically ordered on the limited.

Only thing I really wanted that was standard on limited was the 2 speed transfer case.

I ordered my last limited so as to not get a V8 and not get the Quadra-Drive (AWD). Select Track with 4.0L was more reliable and better MPG.

If I could have ordered Select Track again I would have.

Re: Overland vs. Limited w/ Nav, Luxury, Tow & Off road group: What are the differenc

I'm very pleased with my well-equipped Limited, and saved a few thousand off a similarly-equipped Overland. I'm quite happy with my non-leather dash, and am enjoying my non-sunroof equipped solid steel roof. I didn't get the Lux II package, but spent $200 on a quality HID kit so I have the benefits of HID headlights as in the Overland for far less than the cost of the Lux II package - which is the only way to get the OEM HIDs on a Limited. Having said all that, I do think the Overlands are much nicer on the inside (better seat materials; better color choices) - get what makes you happy and be happy with what you get.

A potentially very good point. Not all options will carry residual value.

I actually prefer the 18" wheels as they handled better IMO due tolighter wheels. Some prefer the look of the 20s, though.

Don't get me wrong, the painted overland trim is nice, but possibly more prone to chips, although the black plastic could fade in time.

The Lux. pkg. provides the same seats as on the Overland except for the contrasting piping and embroidery.

Exactly. Not something I care about. The leather dash looks nice, but how durable is it? Leather needs cleaning and special treatment to keep from drying out. I like the tan interior, which the black top section nicely offsets, IMO, and doesn't reflect white stitching onto the windshield as the leather one does.

Good points all. I must return to the dealer to check out a Limited in person. Only looked at Overlands.

Re: Overland vs. Limited w/ Nav, Luxury, Tow & Off road group: What are the differenc

I think whether you prefer the Limited or Overland interior depends on what sort of vehicle experience you want to have. I know for me when we got the 2011 I wanted the Jeep to be a little bit utilitarian, hence why we got the Laredo X. This time around the Overland appeals to me more because we're looking for a little bit more of a luxury car experience out of that vehicle.

The Overland gets you, in addition to the leather dash and better seating materials (the piping and embroidery make a difference IMHO), real wood and the wood/leather steering wheel. You also get better color options inside the Overland. IMHO its a significantly more upscale feel inside than a similarly equipped Limited...the question is if you want that or not. If you do want that, the $1,500 is a small price to pay.

The wood trim isn't real in a limited?

Gotta look again. I came up with a 3k difference. Not big to me, but part of me likes the tan/black as opposed to tan/brown. Gotta look at a Limited in person. Only looked at Overlands thus far.

Re: Overland vs. Limited w/ Nav, Luxury, Tow & Off road group: What are the differenc

No, the wood trim is fake in the limited. Its only real on the Overland and Summit.

It depends on how you option it. For me I would want the 20s as I hate the new 18s (old 18s were fine).

So a Limited with Lux II, ORA II (to get the QL), 20's & Advanced Tech is $47,575.

An Overland with standard equipment, and Advanced Tech is $48,985. difference is $1,410. That $1,410 gets me real wood, wood leather wheel, leather dash and doors, upgraded seats and trim, availability of better and more unique interior color combos, body colored exterior trim, black headliner vs grey...thats a lot for $1,400.
