I doubt it. Next time ill buy one that doesn't need to be pulled apart 5 times in the first 4 months of ownership.

Re: Owners: Would you buy your Grand Cherokee again?

I would be very Leary of buying another Chrysler product, even a Jeep. Chrysler tells me that if your vehicle can sputter, lurch and stumble down the road it is operating within specs and even though it is still under full warranty there is nothing they need to do.

While my previous 1995 Grand Cherokee severed me very well to 265,000 miles, the new breed of Jeeps are just not well designed and are poorly executed. I want to dump this pig but because it now has a Star case filed I doubt any dealer will touch it on a trade in. Bummer!

A dealer won't care about a star case. They want to sell cars and even if yours has a problem, it is still under warranty.

Oh course if you don't try, you'll never know.

My dealer doesn't hesitate to do any TSB I ask them to do...they merely ask me if I'm experiencing the issue and then cheerfully do the work...

Trust me, dealers will take any car if the price is right. Question is how much of a hit are you willing to take?

Re: Owners: Would you buy your Grand Cherokee again?

I voted "yes". That said, a week ago my water pump died at 34k miles. I concur with others that say Jeep service is fairly bad. The dealer was out of loaners, I had to run around and rush to find a rental car and I got the last one in the area (otherwise, no idea how I would have gotten home). Then, to add insult to injury Jeep paid only $20/day rather than the $35/day owed for the rental because they only had a Toyota Camry rather than a Chrylser product (and yes, it was both under original warranty AND I have the lifetime maxcare). Are you kidding me? That whole experience cost me hours of stress, dealing with the car rental companies, the dealership, the tow service and who will pay under what conditions, and so on. It SHOULD have been as simple as calling the dealer, telling them the car is messed up, having them arrange everything and handing me a loaner, preferably with an apology for having this happen at a measly 34k miles.

So why did I vote "yes"? Because I didn't have a better option. My next car may well be a Porsche (the new Macan Turbo looks very interesting), but that is considerably more cash. Plus I do a terribly long commute (almost 100 miles a day) and I'm not sure that a Porsche with a warranty that will expire after only a few years and no extended warranty option is a reasonable way to go. That said, I would be lying if I didn't say that I always had my eyes open for an SUV with great luxury and performance that also had offroad ability (so must have a V8 or good turbo V6, air suspension, etc.). Also, I immediately write off all things Land Rover because of my experiences with my old Jaguar and my experiences dealing with their combined dealership (summary: remarkably similar to Jeep, but far more expensive and even less reliable).

By the way, when this car works it is a gem. The power out of the V8, the air suspension, the tech features, are all fantastic. If I could just swap out the Jeep dealer network for say, the Audi dealer network I would probably just keep buying Jeep GC Overland/Summits without any hesitation.

The number of issues: CV Boot leaks, 3.6 transmission fishbiting, Brake booster, multiple TIPM replacments, UCONNECT gremlins, Sunroof rattles, misaligned lift gate, clunking in rear suspension, fire hazard in vanity mirror lamps, incorrect/misfitted fuel door, wheel corrosion caused by wheel cap and other issues noted across 2011-2014 models has got me thinking twice about my purchase. I keep thinking "Jeep will fix these problems with the next year model" but new issues seem to replace the old ones.

I have a baby on the way and I don't need the additional stress of vehicle repair or lack of transportation while waiting for repair and/or back ordered parts. I love the looks and technology of the Grand Cherokee, but my head is telling me to choose reliability and resale in the 4Runner.

If you could do your purchase over again, would you?
The corrosion in hubs issue was fixed on 2014 wheels by adding drains.
I posted a thread about reworking some 2013 Durango Wheels which didn't have the drains.

As well as most of the other issues were address in late model 2014's.

I'd buy another in a heart beat.

Re: Owners: Would you buy your Grand Cherokee again?

Absolutely. Love it.

I've had a few minor issues, and getting the my dealer's service dept to actually do something useful is always an adventure..

But yes, I'd buy another one.

You nailed it here. Jeep/Chrysler makes great product but their incompetent dealer staff and managerial staff are what will drive many people away (again). This along with a few more things is what originally put them under water before, you would think that they would acknowledge it before it sinks them again.

Now if they weren't charging so much and charged minimal cost to repair and service, I'd say ok I can live with shitty service. But at premium price you receive the shit end of the stick constantly, ummmm I'd rather go else where.

Porsche is expensive but you get what you pay for. The dealers are far more receptive and willing to resolve issues immediately. My father drives a Porsche Cayenne and I took it in for service for him before and boy what a pleasure it was. When you mention warranty, it is immediately resolved, no ifs or buts. None of the well did you experience it once or twice cuz warranty only helps after the 3rd time you experience a problem lol.

I also own a GX470 and Lexus dealership is always willing to work with me on resolving issues warranty or not. Never had a single issue where they told me to contact Toyota directly. Not even my toyota service department ever told me to go see toyota directly. I own 2 corollas and TSBs were taken care of wether you experience the issue or not. If only my jeep was given the same respect by Chrysler :'(.
