Paddle Shifter question??

I was messing around with the paddle shiftier but I can't figure out how to disengage it and get it back in normal drive mode. I've tried putting the gear selector back in drive but it goes into Sport mode. If I hit the selector again it goes back to manual mode. The only way I can get it to disengage and get back in normal drive mode is by stopping and putting the vehicle in park, then back to drive. Is this normal? Below is what it says in the owners manual. For me that just puts it in Sport mode?

To disengage AutoStick® mode, return the shift lever to the
DRIVE position. You can shift in or out of the AutoStick®
position at any time without taking your foot off the
accelerator pedal.

Re: Paddle Shifter question??

Pull on the right hand paddle and hold for at least 5 seconds.
That should do it. At least it does on mine.

Hold the right side paddle in for 2 seconds and it will return to regular drive mode.

Re: Paddle Shifter question??

I have found that if you're in the automatic drive mode (not Sport mode) and go into manual mode, then want to return to the automatic or normal drive mode then all you have to do is hold in on the upshift or + paddle until it re-enters the automatic mode...I hope this makes sense.

Re: Paddle Shifter question??

From the OM:
"To disengage Paddle Shift mode, press and hold the (+)
shift paddle until D or S is once again displayed in the
instrument cluster. You can shift in or out of Paddle Shift
mode at any time without taking your foot off the
accelerator pedal."

Re: Paddle Shifter question??

If you are reading a '14 owner's manual, I think you found something they forgot to take out. Try Paddle Shift Mode. Unless AutoStick is something different.

"To disengage Paddle Shift mode, press and hold the (+) shift paddle until
Dor Sis once again displayed in the instrument cluster. You can shift in or out of Paddle Shift mode at any time without taking your foot off the accelerator pedal."

I was looking at a 2014 Grand Cherokee owners manual that I downloaded online. Figured it was easier then having to keep going out to get the one from the Jeep. Obviously it's different then the one that came with the vehicle. I found the info. on page 123 in paper manual.
